“Something different”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

This delightful museum provides a very interesting experience. One gets a sense of how life was actually lived in a wonderful house. It is not overwhelming in size. The rooms are beautifully decorated. The only problem is that while the women at the reception desk were pleasant enough, the customer service was nil! We were not given any advice, direction or information at all. We weren't even given a brochure - we had to look for one for ourselves. Still, highly recommended and, yes, the parrot room is a highlight!

“Palazzo Davanzati - three towers and a bricked in Loggia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

This strange structure has been created from a combination of three other tall houses and once inside it is possible to see from the strange internal shape that it is made from not just the usual format - and the interior has some pretty impressive decor too - particulaly the parrot room! But it definitely works as a way to show what life in Renaissance Florence would have been like - hard work on the servants that for sure with all those stairs to negotiate with piles of hot dinners!

“time-machine back to medieval florence!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

This is one of the few medieval houses left in Florence (most were pulled down in late 19th century) a quick hour here is very enjoyable, and it only costs €2! the story of how the building was restored is just as interesting as its history. The decoration of the rooms is truely amazing as is the courtyard-like a setting for Romeo & Juliet! Only thing is there is only a little explanation of the room contents and the stories told in the frescos, so guidebooks are recommended!

“well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

this is a museum where one could stay all day and not get tired, there is so much to see and do. A few more seats would be helpful then one could sit and browse.

“Excellent value for the cost (2 euros in Oct/2012)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

Nice original pallazo, all frescoes are original, pictures are unfortunately forbidden, but it will give you a pretty good idea of the furnishing at the time.
