Stayed here for only 2 nights with my family of 4 as the other hotel booked for the next 4 nights was full. This place didnt feel like a hotel; it felt more like a homestay. Just 5 mins walk from the train station, we were greeted warmly and given an early check-in by Sarah and her family which we much appreciated. We were given a split-level big apartment right in the middle of a beautiful courtyard. Its like a mini oasis to which you return to after a long day of walking amid throngs of tourists.
To locate the hotel, you need to cross to the street where you see MacDonald's cafe.Turn round the corner and you'll see a supermarket. Continue and turn off the 2nd left, if I remember correctly. Anyway, its located in a side street some 100m down. Hotel is also very near the Mercato Centrale, a marketplace with food options. I much prefer the 2 restaurants outside hotel. Cheaper and better tasting food. In fact, Sarah also recommended one of her personal favourite restaurants, Cipolla Rossa, which we felt was the best we had in Florence. The Florentine steak, pastas, soup, and grilled chicken were very good. But then, food was always good in Florence anywhere!
Back to the hotel : Apartment was spotless. Key needs to be returned to reception when going out. Not a problem for us. I couldn't find a safe in...Stayed here for only 2 nights with my family of 4 as the other hotel booked for the next 4 nights was full. No issues with security as the family keeps the door locked in the evenings and lets in only hotel guests. Breakfast is wonderful. The best among all the hotels stayed on this trip. Can't have enough of the yummy bruschettas, pastries and egg dishes, just to name a few among other generous offerings. I much prefer this to the standard hotel fare of cereals, eggs, toast etc as these are all homemade and the sumptious spread makes you feel like you have been warmly welcomed into a friend's house.
Good service, reasonable rates, location will be the key reasons to stay at this hotel; not to mention the beautiful house pet, Rudi the cat, which comes out only at night. My kids absolutely loved playing with it!More
