“Amazing Hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

We stayed with Giorgio and Silvia for our 15th Wedding Anniversary last May. The location is unbeatable, the rate very reasonable, and there is simply no replacing the hospitality and kindness of the the owners. Giorgio and Siliva both helped to make our anniversary spectacular, helping to book appointments, finding a photographer, recommending restaurants and truly making the occasion unforgettable. We stayed in many hotels across Italy, from Rome to Venice, from $150 to $1,500 Euro a night, and it was Giorgio and Silvia that made Residenza Giotto our most memorable stay. We can not wait to go back.

We stayed here for 4 nights and it was perfect! Giorgio and Silvia, who run the quaint and tidy B&B, were very friendly and welcoming.

The B&B is centrally located next to the Duomo, in Florence's city center. We enjoyed an excellent view from our balcony of the church and bell tower. Also, each morning we were served a delicious breakfast with coffee. Next to the dining area, we could step outside onto the porch to enjoy the view of the Duomo.

Silvia and Giorgio also provided excellent restaurant recommendations with a helpful map. Also they called to make reservations at both the Uffizi and Accademia museums for us. Reservations can be confusing and hard to set up for non-fluent Italian speakers. Giorgio and Silvia both speak fluent and clear English, by the way.

The rates for our stay were very reasonable and well worth it, for the high quality of service and comfort we enjoyed. There is free Wi-Fi internet that had a strong signal for our entire stay too.

Summary: Great vacation B&B, friendly and efficient service with at a reasonable rate! "Molto bene!"

Room Tip: choose a room with a good view of the Duomo

We almost couldn't believe it when we turned the corner from the Duomo and there was our building. The location was absolutely perfect, we could not have asked for better. We walked from the train station and were just minutes away from everything. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and quiet. We spent a lot of time out on the balcony with the amazing views of the Duomo, both at night and in the morning. Breakfast was wonderful, and we cannot say enough good things about Silvia. Her communication with us from the beginning was excellent, her directions, advice, and helpfulness were all greatly appreciated. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

My friend and I wanted to have a girls trip to Florence before going to a convention in Roma, and decided to stay here from the wonderful reviews on trip advisor. From the moment we got to Residenza Giotto and met the absolutely lovely, Sylvia, we could really just sit back and enjoy our trip. She was so sweet and knowledgable about the area! The room was so wonderful with a little patio and view of the Duomo, which was literally in our backyard. The location was perfection, less than a 5 minute walk to EVERYTHING! The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean and charming. The breakfast in the morning was divine and we were also able to met the infamous, Giorgio, who was more than happy to offer up advice on what to go see and take a few pictures of us on the breakfast patio. The only thing I would have changed, is our decision to only stay 2 nights! Highly recommend :)

Room Tip: It is completely worth it to pay the extra little amount of money to have the Duomo view.

When we arrived, the door was locked, we rang the bell, and no one answered, It was pouring rain. We called the hotel and Silvia answered, and she buzzed us in. We still didn't know where to go, because this was an office building with no directory. We called Silvia again and she told us to take the elevator up to the 4th floor. The elevator was the size of a shoebox and required several trips to get us and our luggage up. We rang the buzzer at the entrance to the hotel and Silvia let us in. She gave us numerous keys: one for the main entrance entrance to the building, one for the entrance to the hotel on the 4th floor, and one to our room.

The hotel is located right in the heart of Florence, steps from Giotto's bell tower. You don't need an alarm clock: the bells sound very clearly at 7:00 AM every morning. The rooms were acceptable, except for the hazardous entryway to the bathroom. You had to step over a high ledge to get in and out of the bathroom. The windows leaked due to the torrential rains, but Giorgio was willing to caulk them after we complained. The breakfast room had a nice view of the Duomo, although the food was not very tasty.

Both Silvia and Giorgio were helpful. Silvia is exceptionally sweet and pleasant. They let us use their front desk computer to buy train tickets to Rome. They best advice they could give future travelers is detailed instructions on how to find and enter the hotel on arrival.

Room Tip: We booked two rooms and they were both similar. Ask for a room with a shower curtain, not the "...

We stayed here during our visit to Florence over the Thanksgiving Holiday. It was a great find. Sylvia and Georgio were gracious hosts and helped us with anything we needed, including reservations at the museums. Our room overlooked the Duomo and breakfast was wonderful. It is centrally-located and a taxi stand is nearby. I would highly recommend this for your stay in Florence!

Room Tip: The Duomo bells go off at 7am, if you are sensitive to noise, I'd select a room without the view...

My wife and I really liked staying here. The location was PERFECT, you couldn't be any closer to the center of Florence. Everything is accessible! Sylvia was wonderful, all of her recommendations turned out to be spot on. We spent three nights in Florence, met some wonderful people, and wish we could have stayed longer. Really do want to go back.
