“good location, zero service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

i wanted to stay near my daughter's study abroad apartment, which is why i chose this b and b.
the reasonable price made it more attractive. that said, reception was only available from 8am-8pm, which made late check in, or answers to any off hour questions impossible.
the room was quite nice, had high ceilings and faced an interior courtyard. the bathroom was large and new. the sheets were high thread count, but the bedspread had a small, but noticeable stain.
the price and location made it possible for me to overlook the shortcomings of this b and b. i don't know if i would return.

Room Tip: ask for a room with frescos.

Dear Sir,

First of all we would like to thank you for your review. We really appreciated your point of view and useful suggestions.
We also wanted to give further explanation to your questions.

About the front desk opening time, we always inform our guests that we don't have a 24 hour Reception. We always make this point clear both on private emails and websites. Moreover, even though our reception is open from 8 am to 8 pm, we always make arrangement for late check in on demand. We are sorry to hear that Reception opening time caused any problem to you, even if it is open 12 hours a day.
We did our best to make your holiday as pleasant as possible. This is why we reserved the largest superior room in the hotel for you and your family for the entire holiday, as you stayed here twice in two weeks. Our triple room features a king size bed and a sofa bed, a bathroom with a shower and a lovely balcony facing the inner courtyard. As you said, the rate for the room was discounted too.

As you may remember, everyday we tried to satisfy your requests. It is sad to hear that, after all, you do not consider it a good effort.

I frequently visit Florence and was fortunate enough to find this charming and unique hotel. Perfectly located, close to everything of interest in the historic center. I have stayed here on 3 separate occassions. All rooms and bathrooms are beautifully appointed and there is a charming breakfast room in the crypt. Some rooms even have little terraces. The spa in the courtyard is a delightful asset, wonderful to book an indulgent service after a busy day. I would highly recommend this tasteful B&B without hestitation.

Room Tip: Rooms can be viewed online. Each is unique.

I just spent a wonderful extended weekend in Florence at the Palazzo Galletti. I arrived at reception and was greeted by Martina. I immediately had trouble with my credit cards due to the bank in America. With Martina's assistance, I was able to solve the problem within a few hours. The location is very good, a short easy wlak to the Duomo which is in sight.Also within that short walk are numerous cafes and restaurants which serve delicious varied foods at reasonable prices. You have to pay for this kind of service and attention. I treated myself to a massage at the spa, which albeit is pricey, was worth every euro. The spa is beautiful and very relaxing, a good place to wind down after a day of walking before dinner. I sprung for a suite. I came this far, no time to be cheap. My room was beautiful with a luxurious bathroom complete with bidet, stall shower (very large) and towel warmer. The breakfast was sufficient. Breakfast is not viewed the same there. Plenty to eat. Very tasty. Enough to give you a nice start before going out to find the good stuff. It is served in an interesting place in the hotel. I find this spot fascinating architecturally. I spent a lot of money. No regrets as I loved every minute of my trip. Would I do it again? I hope to. I would stay here because the hotel, staff and location make it so easy.

Room Tip: If you've come this far, spring for a suite as it offers more space to spread out.

Couldn't be more happy with the hotel and the staff, wonderful location and the rooms and beds are very large and clean.
We even had breakfast in our room free of charge the first morning. Also the breakfast is very nice and varied.

Will return next year.

This is a beautiful place to stay, each room like staying in an art gallery. Great location and wonderful people own this fabulous B&B. We had a lovely breakfast, took in all the sights that were so incredibly close by. We walked every where.
We spent most of our Tuscan vacation at the family owned Fattoria Bacio, a dream come true.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect when the taxi driver dropped us off and we had to go through security gates,(other companies have offices within the complex but hotel is separate) but once inside and up the stone staircase the b&b was delightful - very unusual. The staff were very helpful from receptionist to the lady who looked after the breakfast room. It was wonderful to sit out on the balcony in the evening with a glass of wine from the hotel owner's own vineyard. It is very near all the sights and restaurants. We have recommended Palazzo Galletti to a number of friends.

I will be thorough since there are issues but none as bad as older reviews showed (some of which are 5 years old)

Pros:
* Large quiet room
* Close to the Duomo and other attractions
* Friendly staff

Cons:
* Quite pricey for us at least. I wonder if I should have bargained.
* (Tiny) pool belongs to the spa next door which charge 50EUR to even enter. HUGE disappointment since we chose this hotel for the pool in the pictures.
* If cold outside, then VERY cold inside before the 1st of November
* late basic breakfast
* No lift - two flights of stairs to drag your luggage up
* Satellite TV but only a few channels available of the 1500 coded channels
---

It seems the reviews here are VERY varied even on the same room. We paid 180 per night for Giove - 45m2 with 7m to the ceiling - seems others paid 80 for the same room a month or so earlier - perhaps it was due to the heat that we certainly did not feel.

This visit was marred by the 15 degree drop from 25C a few days after we arrived the last week of October. Italy has a very strict environmental law that may hit you hard if you are at the edge of the November 1st heat-on to the April 15th airco-on which made our huge stone room with a hairdryer sized electric heater in a 300 cubic meter stone palazzo room with single glazing a bit too cold for comfort. It seems they may actually get fined if the energy people visits them so I was happy a solution was found regardless by the very friendly manager.
I did not encounter any unfriendly or lazy staff as mentioned in other reviews.

* The room was very large, VERY quiet, clean and smelled fresh and we were not bothered by the scent sticks which were not placed there to camouflage any smells.
* The bathroom was large with high-end shower and had douche and a bidet. Sink had some design issues which we reported - not sure where the water on the floor came from, possibly overflow.
* The 8AM breakfast was too late for our liking. If the weather had been what we expected, we would have liked to have breakfast from 7am so we could be in other cities at 9. This seems also to be an Italian thing and not just this hotel.
* The breakfast itself was very basic and did not change over the 7 nights we were there. On Sunday we were surprised by the two extra staff in the tiny breakfast room who inquired about our coffee wishes. It turns out they possibly were there every morning, but just happened to show up later on other days than the 7:50 to 8:20 we had breakfast.
We had asked for a kettle since we wake up at 6am, and were lent one by the friendly staff, but when it turned out it had been borrowed from the kitchen where it was needed, the manager went out to purchase us a new one.
* When we complained about the cold room, we were told it was down to the italian environmental laws - we were provided with a tiny heater which sufficed the first 2 days but then not. A solution was luckily found, but be warned about this.
* We were HUGELY disappointed that the pictures of the SPA came from the actual spa which shares the entrance to the hotel but is in no way associated. We chose this hotel over others nearby because of the pool in the pictures. It is there, 3*6 meters and costs 50EUR per person to use - no kids welcome. for that alone they lose a rating.

So a mixed bag. I hope this review will be useful to people - I would visit this place again in warmer weather, the placement is ideal and if you get a good deal on the price, are young and romantic, it is quite nice with its high ceilings and cute little balcony.
