This hotel has an incredible location just 2 blocks from the Duomo. Our room had a private bathroom and a TV and the hotel provides free wifi and was very quiet considering it was on the front of the building. Only downside to this hotel is that it's on the 4th floor of a building with no elevator, but that just gave me a reason not to feel guilty about stuffing myself with delicious food during our stay in Italy :)

I stayed here for one night after my study abroad programme ended, so it was basically just a place to grab some sleep before an early flight home. That being said, I would not be opposed to staying here on another trip to Florence, even for more than one night. My room was a single with the shared bath, which was plenty enough for one person. There was a sink, a television with plenty of channels, and good, adjustable air conditioning (a rarity!). WIFI is available in the rooms, which is not something you will find in many budget hotels in Florence, and the staff is helpful even though not all of them speak very good English. They arranged for a taxi to the airport at 6am.

The only things about this hotel which are poorer than average were, as some other travellers mentioned, the stairs (3 flights of them) which would not be ideal for older travellers or people with extreme amounts of luggage. Additionally, my room was directly beside the front door to the reception area, which was sort of loud in the late evening, but quietened as the night went on. The walls and doors are also very thin, and both street noise and noise from other people staying at the hotel was louder than average.

The location of Hotel Giappone is excellent! It is in the historic center of the city and within walking distance of almost every major attraction in the city. Overall a good value for a hotel which is comparable to other, more expensive accomodations in the city!

Very good location, well equipped for a budget place, tv, wifi, shower in room. Paper thin walls and slamming "front" door was the only minus.
Not cheap, but good price for incredibly expensive Florence.
