“Friendly staff, very basic room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

We had seen many good reviews of this hotel which was why we chose it, but I would liken this to a 2-star rather than a 3. Finding the place was interesting, it is on the 2nd floor of a building that houses a completely different hotel on the 4th, but it is extremely close to the train station which is both convenient and makes it easy to get back to. The tiny lift was interesting to transport ourselves, our luggage and one other person, but we got there.
The staff are friendly and hospitable, the best part about the hotel. They even let us do a load of washing without paying the normal 3euro charge (which in itself is pretty handy and cheap).
The room has a heat pump, fridge and kettle (though no mugs or tea/coffee?), plus a safe and satellite tv.
There aren't really curtains, just some fixed wooden shutters that still allow a fair bit of street light (and noise) in, and our room was close to reception, the two doors separating us from it didn't keep out much of the sound, so we could hear the videos the reception guy was watching (reception is manned 24 hours). It was also very unusual that you have to give your one and only key to reception any time you leave the hotel...
All in all, it was a bed and a shower, don't expect anything more. We did, because of previous reviews, and it wasn't as good as we expected. The staff are great though.

My friends and I stayed at this wonderful location two different times while studying abroad this summer. This place is clean, comfortable, and very affordable. The Hotel is located right next to the train station. While the rooms were nice, and the location was great, the absolute best thing was the service. When we walked in, we were greeted with a map of the city, the gentleman at the desk made our dinner reservations, and he let us keep our luggage there before our train left the next day. I would stay there any day and recommend it to anyone traveling through Florence.

Perfect. You feel more like home (in appartment) than in a hotel. Ask for a room on the 5th floor with perfect view on city center (roofs of houses and cathedrals in the city centre). You can park the car in the atrium of the building. In fact there are 3 hotels on the same address I think. The breakfast you can have in the nextdoor pasticeria. Perfect brioche and coffee.:-) the hotel hotel is just a short walking distance to city centre. Maybe 5 minutes! The owners ( i think young brothrr and sister)are helpfull and nice. Ready to help you anytime.

Room Tip: 5th floor, city view

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights -- 2 of us on the first 3 nights and 3 of us on the last night, so I booked doubles first then a triple. They were kind enough to give us a room from day 1 that would accommodate a triple (actually, we realized it was a quad!) so that we don't have to move around. The room was at their related or co managed hotel maison de charme, which for all intents & purposes is just an annex of hotel ester. Maison is at the fourth floor of the building right across hotel ester. So, service was OK. Nothing posh (never compare with hotels is Asia for the same price) but the room was clean & spacious, a/c, had a balcony, safe, TV & everything you need. The PC in the room was going to be fixed, but there was good wifi.

The location being just across the train station is great & very convenient. It is the first stop from the airport shuttle bus. There are many buses and taxis from there. There's a grocery just beside the building and many restaurants. It is walking distance from the market, duomo & if u dont mind walking a bit more, to piazza signoria. It is probably not the nicest area probably & is a very busy place, but the hotel itself was very safe & secure, with a lock at the front door and at the fourth floor entrance.

Downside is the tiny tiny shower. Very hard to shower in such a confined space.

This is a good budget hotel in Florence, and really affordable for a major touristy European city. We had a 3 person bedroom, and it was clean and quiet from all the noises from the street. Upon arrival, Marco gave us lots of instructions, even showing us how to get to the English speaking channels on the tv, as well as multiple maps for Florence. We really appreciated the desktop computer in our room, which allowed us to conserve the battery on our mobile devices, and look up recommendations on the internet. The hotel is very close to the train station, which made arriving and departing very easy.

Room Tip: We asked for a quieter room, which meant no view of the Duomo, but better sleep quality.

1 block from the train station. Quiet at night. Front desk people were simply awesome. They washed one load of clothes for free, the second for 4 euros, and they even hung them to dry for us! Needed a few pages printed out and they were happy to do it for me. Our quad was fantastic. Large room with a balcony, computer, terrific bathroom. Can walk to everything from this location. Clean, spacious and helpful. We left our luggage until 6 pm the next day to catch our train. Great air conditioning. Would love to stay here again.

Had my doubts when we arrived at the building but as soon as we got to the reception and our room that all changed. Its not a 5 star hotel but the rooms are great, clean and well maintained. Good bathroom and shower. Excellent service from the owners and staff. Would definitely be happy to stay here again.
