“The Place For a Romantic Get Away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2011

The last time we stayed here was actually October 2009 (having been there before in October 2006). On both ocassions we were celebrating my wife's brithday. It had changed little in the three year gap between our visits and is without doubt one of the finest small hotels we've ever stayed in. It is not a cheap hotel but never for a second have we felt that it did not represent good value for money. Few hotels have public rooms of this quality and very good, professional staff who seem to genuinely care about looking after you. We have stayed in the same suite twice which was truly the most sumptious accommodation we've ever experienced; enormous bed, massive bath, steam/shower, walk in wardrobe, fine antiques and objets d'art and tastful furnishings throughout. The location is also excellent in Via Ghibellina with a few good restaurants nearby (including that in the hotel itself) and provides some respite from the main hustle and bustle of Florence. We love Florence and this hotel.

To stay with Relais Santa Croce is like to stay in a very luxurious cocoon. Between visiting Florence and eating some fantastic Italian dinner it is a pleasure to go back to the hotel and to feel all relax, luxe and calm of this place. I recommend RCC to any person looking for sweet 5 stars break in Europe.

Check in time says 2:00 pm. We arrived at 1:45 pm. We got our room almost at 4:00 pm not before a serious complain...!!!
Breakfast by 10 am is a problem. Food is not replenished, plates are not available, everything you ask is slowly served.

Room Tip: Best rooms are the ones overlooking the street as.

I stayed at Relais Santa two times the last two years for work while Pitti in Florence, and I could not think of any better place
The staff always made me feel like if there is no one else but me in the Palace. The front office is impeccable, courteous, available and gentile but never over friendly. Aurora in particular is quite exceptional.
The restaurant have a great menu and the ambiance is always very tranquil, which I do appreciate greatly.
For the rest, the rooms are just lovely! With fantastic views on the third floor and probably one of the most comfortable beds I have ever sleep on.
On another note the areas surrounding the Hotel very Florentine, and there is a lovely theater “ Verdi” next to the Palace where you can assist to very nice music concerts

How many times have I been misled by R&C classification?? This was the final straw. The hotel looked promising when we arrived-beautiful entrance, doormen, public rooms... but when we got to the room, it was a giant disappointment. A modern box, terrible decor and horrible lighting. I should have been wary when I emailed concierge to make reservations and had no reply for 3 days until i complained to Baglioni HQ; And to boot, it's very expensive- definitely not, not worth what they charge. I would never go back. They boast about having the most expensive restaurant in Italy downstairs....how about getting the basics right before bragging about 3 Michelin star food???

I made the mistake of ordering flowers. It must have been in a moment of romantic folly- better to burn 50 euros. They didn't impress my wife- and they stayed half dead in their cellophane wrapper until we left. My other mistake was to book a transfer from Florence airport. It would have been easier, qucker and cheaper to take a taxi. Well you live and learn! The hotel is lovely. It is grand but also has something of the feel of a Pensione. Our room overlooked the street but was large and very comfortable. The double glazing kept out the noise. Part of the charm of the place is that it is in a failry ordinary Florentine street. But it is very is well situated- just around the corner form Santa Croce and a few minutes walk form the Bargello. And it is near some of the best retaurants (Enoteccha Pinchiorri (3 Michelin stars and prices to match) is joined to the hotel- but we didn't eat there). It's not a place to take the family - but it is a place to go for a romantic weekend. We liked it. My only gripe - being expected to pay for internet access. Surely these days a luxury hotel can let you connect for free.

Room Tip: Go for rooms on the second floor.

Just stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Location was wonderful , easy walk to all main attractions. Disappointed in view, guess you have to be on top floor to get more than city street view.
