“Enjoyable and convenient place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

Hotel Unicorno is just a couple of blocks away from the Florence, SMN, train station and within walking distance of all of the major attractions in Florence. The reception greeted us warmly when we arrived and gave a quick orientation to Florence. We had to carry our bags up half a flight of steps to the small elevator. The room was the average European size, but the bathroom was larger than in most European hotels. Since the hotel is in the heart of Florence, it can be a little noisy; but the hotel has upgraded the windows to double pane to block most of the noise. The breakfast was typical for hotels in this price range. This is a good place to stay if you want to be close to Florence culture.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not overlooking the street.

My family stayed at Hotel Unicorno while in Florence for my wedding! The staff are extremely kind and are very happy to help out with anything you should need. They are great help for suggestions around town and truly want you to have a great experience in Florence!

They went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable. They even let me host our Bridal Luncheon in the Breakfast area, providing snacks and drinks for all of my bridesmaids and family!

The rooms are great and true to the Italian style. The top floor rooms are more modern and sleek. The towels are fresh, beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean!

Hotel breakfasts usually aren't exceptional but i loved the foods offered here!

The location is great; close walk to all of the main tourist attractions while keeping you close to the train station!

I highly recommend this hotel for an affordable stay with charm in Florence!

Room Tip: For the newer and renovated rooms, go for the top floor rooms. I believe they cost a little bit more...

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights while in Florence. The hotel décor was ok, more modern than many Italian hotels. It did not feel as clean as the other hotels that we stayed at in Italy. Breakfast was not bad too. The location was great though.
Hotel reception staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful.

We arrived at this hotel and were greeted by smiles. Upon checking in, we were informed that all the museums were free entry that afternoon so we were advised to hurry out and see the sights. Also, we had inquired about booking the train to Venice and the front desk clerk was helpful enough to print the schedule for us and provide instructions on how to book tickets. On the day we checked out, we had a late train so the hotel held all our luggage and allowed us to hang out in the lounge before heading over to our train. Room was standard for a European hotel, basic, clean; just what you'd expect.

Perfect location. Quiet street. Close enough to walk from the station with luggage. Close to river, Piazza Republic and the Dourmo. Room was comfortable with a good shower. Rooms at the back are very quiet but a little dark.

Would stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter.

Really lovely hotel, staff were so friendly. Situated right in the middle of florence ideal for sight seeing. The hotel was clean and there was plenty to choose from and eat for breakfast. Would stay there again.

Booked this hotel 6 months before travelling. Booked a superior room above the standard classic room so paid a little extra for the comfort. On arrival at 1600 hrs were informed that all superior rooms were booked out and that my credit card had been debited for the stay. We were then taken across the road to a hotel that had a free room. We were shown a twin room with the beds placed back to back with a metre spare to the wall. Not suitable as a superior room. After much arguing were given a double room with little space. Management were unconcerned re our expression of disgust re paying for a superior room. I would advise that this hotel be avoided at all costs.

Room Tip: Don't choose this hotel and you should then get a good room elsewhere.
