“I loved this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Although not the easiest place to get to when walking with luggage (in my opinion - others who stayed at the hotel disagreed) it is still very central and easy to get to when luggage-free!

I loved the people here, the breakfast, the atmosphere, the drinks in the evening, the music, the living room. Everything was amazing and was like a swanky hotel rather than hostel. Also extremely clean.

What's more the guy with the dreadlocks at reception is incredibly hot!!!!

Three things that made this hostel worth staying:

1. CHARACTER:
- A very cool lobby with a hipster vibe that turns into a bar/performance area at night. You are lucky if you chance upon certain events held at their lobby. We were lucky enough to have experience 2 events : electronic/techno night and jazz/blues night where in there were actual life performers.
- The details of the hostel is impeccable -- you have to give credit to the owners of making sure that there are fresh lilies to make your surroundings more beautiful.

2. CLEAN AMENITIES
- You wouldn't even realize that you are sharing the bathroom with other people because it seems like it hasn't been used yet.
- The beds are comfortable and clean as well.

3. AWESOME PEOPLE
- Romina and the rest of her staff are super friendly and helpful to giving trip advices. They are approachable as well.

Please take note that the hostel is located outside the walls of the old florence town. It will take about 15 minute walk to get to the city center. But it will be a pleasant walk for sure.

Incredible! Tasso is clean, friendly and accommodating. They have brilliant QR guides of the city, a unique eclectic interior, endless cultural events going on and all that with the addition of their great staff. Frederico (who has an epic moustache!) was so welcoming and helpful. Romani is an ocean of calm and full of advice. This hostel could soon become a destination in itself; another reason to visit Florence!

The good:

Very clean.
Good coffee.
Great common areas.
Good location.
Romina (hostess) was very nice and super helpful.

The bad:
The person in charge of breakfast (Mr Hipster Moustache) has a bit of an attitude.
A lot of noise coming from other rooms and the common area (lack of furniture in the rooms and aisles makes every little noise too loud).

This was my first solo trip and my first stay at a hostel. I wasn't sure what to expect because I have never been to Florence either, and didn't have a very well thought of itinerary initially. Booked a solo room for 7 nights.

Tasso offered a certain warmth and felt homey as soon as I checked in. I think it had to do with the theatre/common room, which was also my favourite spot in the hostel. That was the selling point for me when I looked through their website prior to booking, and it was as amazing in person. Every morning, after I've had my croissant and coffee out in the courtyard (my next fave part of the hostel), I sat in the lounge and luckily enough, I was able to watch and listen in on random talented guests play the guitar, piano, or trumpet. It was the perfect place to meet many interesting people from all walks of life, and so even if I was travelling solo, I was never really alone.

Also, another important aspect were the people. I was hesitant to stay at a hostel at first because of horror stories I have heard of--dirty rooms, dirtier bathrooms, drunks and rowdy people every night. So I was pleasantly surprised to see that the rooms and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable, and even if there was something or the other going on every night, the people that came in and out seemed very decent and wasn't a hassle and didn't cause trouble. There were 2 music events with aperitifs going on the weekend I was there, and it was a good way to interact with other guests and locals. The noise did not really bother me even if my room was facing the courtyard. I could hear what was going on downstairs, but it wasn't too loud that I'd get disturbed or uncomfortable.

Location-wise, I preferred that it was away from the main tourist spots, but still close enough to enjoy a scenic walk to every tourist attraction. They are also great with suggesting day tours and places to visit.

All in all, it was an excellent stay for a newbie like me. I've been recommending Tasso to all my friends and family since. Special thanks to Romina, who made me feel at home right away, and was very helpful with tips about the city. The whole staff was great and offered any assistance at any time. Definitely staying here again next time I'm in town.

A lobby that cannot be replicated, so much character and warmth from the interior design and staff. Makes you want to extend. This is what a quality hostel means--clean bathrooms, good heater, great basic amenities, with nice kitchen, laundry area, and of course an awesome bar!

Cant wait to go back! Grazie mille!

perfect !!
really good place.

but two negative point :
- breakfast : only melba toast (not really good)
- every night they organise party inside the hostel in the first floor.
=> it's quite noising. We do not feel good to stay in this room.
