“Magnificent and Breathtaking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

I was in Italy with my colleagues on a business trip, so there was not much of time for sight seeing. We only had an afternoon of sight seeing time so we decided hope onto a train and head for Venice.
We went searched and asked around for the famous Piazza San Marco as it was our first trip to Italy. And my deep impression of Venice is mainly from Angelina Jolie's Movie "The Tourist" and of course other attractions.
I have always wanted to visit Venice with my wife as it is a very romantic city but here i am with my colleagues instead of my wife.
Piazza San Marco is magnificent. As soon as you walk into the Piazza, your eyes are automatically drawn to the beautiful architectural facade of the churches. It is a very busy place, not much of vehicles as in Venice is surrounded by water so its water transportation as primary.
The beautiful building surrounding the Piazza are Galleria Dell’Accademia, Basilica Della SS. Anuziata, Museo Archeologico Nazionale and Spedale Degli Innocenti. There are also many cafes where you can sit and enjoy a cup of latte and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Please be careful of your personal belongs when you are there. Heard that there are cases of pickpockets. And also be careful of which period of the year you are going to Venice, this is because of the flooding issues. Venice is surrounded by water, therefore when its the season of sea level rising, Venice will be submerge in water.

“Breathtaking Artwork”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014

As soon as you walk in the church, your eyes are automatically drawn to the beautiful artwork. Between the church and the convent, which is now Museo Nazionale di San Marco, the talent on the walls is endless. The fresco as soon as you enter is a true masterpiece. In the church, there is a stunning tabernacle that was designed by Lorenzo Ghiberti. The single nave and side chapels layout a perfect setting. There is a smaller version of the Last Supper as well. The crucifix on the high altar by Angelico, is picture worthy. There are also significant figures buried there which adds to the history behind it.

“Language Barrier”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014

San Marco Church was a lovely church to visit and tour, but the only problem with the church was that there was no ability for other languages to understand the history and all that the church has to offer. This church could benefit from providing pamphlets in different languages for all those who come and tour so they can fully gather all the information and history the church as to provide. This suggestion will be beneficial for many people in accessing the information without having to interpret their own meanings due to the language barrier.

“Not much to see”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

Piazza San Marco is a very busy place as it is surrounded by roads and you see many cars and buses going by. The Piazza San Marco is located near the Piazza della Santissima Annunziata (a quiet little Piazza). There are some beautiful building surrounding it such as Galleria Dell’Accademia, Basilica Della SS. Anuziata, Museo Archeologico Nazionale and Spedale Degli Innocenti.

Not much to see but there are few cafes nearby and if you are in the area it’s a good place to rest and grab a bite.

“Plaza Dominated by the San Marco Church”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

The Piazza San Marco is a plaza dominated by the San Marco Church, which has a beautiful façade. In the middle of the plaza there is a small park with benches where people sit. The plaza is busy because there is a bus stop there. There is nothing else of importance to see in this plaza.
