“Delicious food, great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

We stumbled into Il Gusto di Acasamia at around 5:30 on a hot July afternoon to see if we could get a dinner reservation. We were hungry but oubted that it would open before 8:00. We learned that we could make a reservation, and we could also be served then, if we chose. Thankful to be out off the hot street, we went inside. What a wonderful place! We had a great dinner, including the complimentary prosecco and appetizer described by others, and attentive but not intrusive service. We liked it so much we tried to make reservations for the next night, a Sunday. Unfortunately it's closed on Sundays and we left on Monday. Our return visit will have to wait.

“Well up to expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Welcomed with a complimentary glass of Proseco, we arrived without reservation, just as the restaurant opened for business at 7:30. As advertised the menu was in Italian, which was quickly translated for us, by the lovely Christina who could not have been more helpful or charming.
The food was delicious and the suggested 12 Euro bottle of Chianti, was very good as well.
All in, an excellent little restaurant, with great food, service and staff. A fantastic find in any city, never mind one as touristy as Florence.

“Best meal in Florence!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

We picked this restaurant because of the reviews we read on TripAdvisor and the fact that is was within walking distance from our apartment. Everything from the prosecco, bruschetta, steak, ravioli, wine and limoncello, was perfect! Our waitress, Christina, was extremely helpful and patient in translating to English. She explained everything in great detail and we weren't disappointed. We enjoyed everything about our experience so much, that we came back within the week! We were equally satisfied the second time, as well. If we ever get the chance to visit Florence again, this will be our first stop!

“Simple Good Food / Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

This small establishment is a bit off the beaten track, but it is well worth it. Good wholesome Italian food - tasty and simple, for very little money comparatively to most Florentine restaurants. The only downside would be the almost non existing English of the very nice waiter. I speak Italian, so it was not a problem. In any case I saw that a person from the kitchen came out to speak English for those needing it, which brings me to the next point, both the owner, the waiters and the kitchen staff were really friendly.

“Wonderful dinner, lovely setting, welcoming service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

We had walked by this restaurant on several occasions since it is in the neighborhood where my husband, my sister and myself are staying. We decided last night to give it a try and we're glad we did. It is a small intimate place with a lot of dark wood and wonderful Tuscan yellow gold walls that combine to give it a very warm feeling.

The service was excellent - though it is true that we ate early (7:45) and were the only customers for the beginning of our meal. After we were seated we were delighted to receive a free welcoming glass of prosecco and some cheese spread while we looked at the menu. The table was set out with a proposed Tuscan red that we tried and were quite pleased with the suggestion.

We ordered bruschetta for an antipasto - which was typical in character - but very well done with excellent tomatoes and bread toasted just right and served before it became soggy.

We each ordered a primo and shared tastes- a ghitarini - with fresh homemade pasta with cherry tomatoes and buffalo and basil - the main complaint may have been that the portion was too large; ravioli with spinach and ricotta in a cream sauce - very rich and delicious, and a lasagnetta which was a baked crispy pasta shell with mixed vegetables and a light cream sauce with a creamy cheese topping

All of them were excellent.

We ordered a caprese salad and some mixed grilled vegetables for contorni - which included eggplant, green peppers and some others all well-seasoned.

The presentation of the food was lovely. Also the bread and particularly the flattened breadsticks were fresh and quite good.

At the end of the meal we refused dessert, my husband commenting that he was too full. Our waitress, Cristina, said that she knew just the thing for that and returned with three complimentary limoncelli for us to settle our stomachs.

All in all, I highly recommend the restaurant.
