“Funny little place with great hams”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

Dropping in 6 persons we didnt expect to get a table. Asking the two girls behind the desk didnt help much as they don't have the necessary restaurant licens to service at the tables...

Fortunately we found a table all the way in the back of the restaurant (the old toilet or slaughter house?:-).

Same lack of licens means no menus at the tables, so only menu is at the bar where you also have to place your order..

The large crostini with ham, goat cheese etc. were great though and the whole thing a funny experience!

“a tiny slice of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

We found this quite by accident, and it was a jewel...the food, the wine, the people, the service. Absolutely delicious and fun as well. Perfect for planning a picnic or dinner party. We'll be back on any future trip to Florence.

“Very delicious and nice people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

I do not eat meat so I thought I did not have much choices in the restaurant. However, I did figure out some veggi choices like The thief politician (truffle and mushroom) and the Heidis goat (cheese and honey). The bread is freshly made and cut by the lovely ladies. The food is simple but it is very delicious. The ambience is unique and perfect.

“Excellent, simple & great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

Just walk by and start salivating, the beautiful aroma of ham. There's no table service because there's no restaurant licence so go up to the board point and 5mins later delicious plates of ham (and donkey) will be handed over. Good cheap wines by the glass. Gets very busy. Be sure to try the famed fennel salami which is popular in Florence. Now as the name suggests this is all about meat and more or less a glorified deli. Try to avoid behaving like the American in front of us "skuuuze me sir but for 10e I expect olives, sun dried tomaaatoes and other vegetables on this plaaater"..... Umm did you check the name of the place and notice the 20 legs of pork hanging from the ceiling? A Florence must if you are into ham

“Fab-u-lous!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant is on the Via Dei Neri which was very close to our hotel so we passed it every day and visited twice. We LOVED it. Were lucky to get a table at night time as it is very small and fills up in a second. Food was just as we expected and wine very good. The self serving aspect is quirky but fun and the staff helpful and friendly unlike other places in Florence. Definitely recommend.
