“Staying in the heart of Florence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Quality B&B with good design, clean room, good service, convenient location and reasonable pricing once compare surrounding area. Easy for connection with train to other city in Italy as just 5 mins walking or EUR 6 by taxi from B&B. Food and coffee shop are opposite with different kind of selection. Shopping are surrounding as well.

I enjoyed this place very much. First of all - its location is really great, just on Republic Square. You walk a hundred of meters and face St Maria del Fiore or the Sguare of Signiorii with the original Bellini or Ufizzi or a huge amount of cafes and shops. The second - it is clean, well cleaned every day. Then I liked the bathroom - modern with all necessary things and beautifully designed. The bed was comfortable and inviting. The TV set was with a rather big screen. There was everything for making tea or coffee in the room. And what was very important for me - free wi-fi with good connection and speed. It is not a hotel with the reception and guards and swimming pool - it is a flat (guest house) on the forth floor of a huge building with very high seilings, with six rooms and a hall with leather sofa and armchairs. You will get three keys - for the entrance door, the flat and your room and be free. We were asked to pay all the sum on the first day - but in this case it is understandable. The taxi stop is just near the entrance but you can also walk to the railway station with the suitcase - it took us about ten minutes. Stefan and his friend who made the cleaning were very hospitable. And the restaurant recommended by Stefan happened to be very good - with home-made pasta and native atmosphere.

The rooms are newly renovated and facilities are very good, spacious too for Italian standards. However, since it's not actually a hotel, you can't really find anyone working most of the time. And breakfast is only served after 8:30 which is useless if you need to start your day early. Given it's Florence most people would want to do day trips to Tuscany or along the coast so the free breakfast doesn't really count, couldn't utilize it for the 4 days I was there...
Otherwise location is good, walkable from the train station.

My husband and I enjoyed staying here for three nights in September. It was a little difficult to find as the entrance is a large door next to the Hard Rock Cafe. The room and bathroom was new, extremely clean and comfortable (with air conditioning). The location is perfect! You can walk to all major sites and the Duomo is just a block away. Our only disappointment about staying here was the breakfast (or lack thereof). You can choose one of three pastries (donut, muffin or croissant) served with coffee, juice and water at the Hard Rock Cafe. If that's all you need for breakfast, I would highly recommend staying here. Overall, we loved the room and were bummed about the breakfast.

I stayed here for 2 nights (in mid August). Let me describe this B&B. It's situated in an office bldg (italian style) on the 4th floor. It's setup like an apartment with 6 separate private bedrooms. The suite was very nice with hardwood floors, great a/c, TV, mini fridge (with 2 bottles of free water upon arrival) and private bathroom . Checkout the pics. I was given a coupon for free breakfast each morning from the Hard Rock Cafe. It was choice of a pastry with juice and coffee. I saved 7 euros each morning. The B&B is located next door to the Hard Rock cafe and within the heart of everything happening in Florence. I never needed a taxi and walked to the B&B (with luggage) from Santa Maria Novella train station. It's a great location. The only concern about this B&B is arriving back late at night alone. The floor is completely dark and you must turn on the lights in the hallway. That's a bit scary for a female coming into an empty office building. The main door downstairs is not always locked at night. Otherwise, I would definitely return to this B&B if I wanted to stay somewhere inexpensive in a great location. I considered extending my stay and the owner offered an add'l 10% off.

Room Tip: I had room 4. It provided a great view over rooftops and privacy from other bldgs.
