“Affordable, plain, but nice and clean family run hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

The hotel is about 500 meters from the train station in Florence and 200 m from the tourist information. The house from the 1400s is "gently renovated". Next door to an outstanding beautifully decorated pharmacy /perfumery from the 1200s (opened for public sale in 1612). We thank Nadja at the reception for her great tips: Buy picnic food in the market hall, then take bus No. 12 (€ 1:20, instead of the Hop on-hop off bus for € 25) and go around the city to the famous viewpoint Piazzale Michelangelo. In the town center there are mostly pedestrian zones, so buses can not come close to the sights. Nadja also recommended a typical Italian restaurant without the feeling "tourist trap" with sloppy made food and high prices (Trattoria Za-Za). Instead, visit Ostaria / Ristorante Centopoveri on Via Porcellana 41. We were completely satisfied :-)

We stayed at both the Elite and Desiree hotels due to nights that weren't open online. In short, we created a real challenge for them with a late night arrival, 1 night in Elite followed by a night in the Desiree and finally back to the Elite. They were VERY VERY helpful through all of this. We really couldn't ask for a more professional group of staff members. VERY honest and upfront about everything!

Yes, you are getting a low price property. But, they are GREAT people to work with.

There were mosquitos everywhere. We killed at least 10. The shower doesnt have a floor and the curtain touches the toilet so after the shower everything is soaked. Also, the floor started to flood after about 5-10 minutes so I had to start turning the water on and off to drain. The walls and bed spread were very very gross. The only good part was location.

I stayed there for 2 nights only. It was a very cheap place, but very nice.
The only thing that I did not like was the fact that we had to check in at another hotel which is not very far, but when you are carrying ten thousand stuff, it seems very verrry very far away!

Hotel Elite is a small hotel, situated near all of the major sites of Firenze. You can easily walk to the hotel from the train station. It is partnered with another larger hotel in nearby Piazza S.M. Novella, where you can eat a buffet-style breakfast and leave your luggage for the day.The staff was very kind and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, our room was on the main street through which many city buses travel and cars zip through at all hours.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 2 through 5, if possible. These rooms face the busy street.

This was a delightful hotel but remember - it is a budget hotel. Our room was clean and the linens were crisp and comfortable. The bathrooms were odd but that comes with an old hotel. We reserved 4 rooms as we traveled in large group. All were completely different but all provided a good night's sleep. The location was fabulous and a short walk from the train station. Trattoria Da Giorgio is a fabulous restaurant a few step away from the hotel. We stopped at the Joshua Tree on the way back to our hotel for a nightcap. It was one of the most memorable evenings of our trip! We never saw anyone at the front desk but that wasn't a problem for us. It was a perfect fit for our large group.

Room Tip: A corner room would be preferable.

Ok don't be fooled by the pictures, unless there are more than the three rooms I saw. The good is: It is in a great location, there are three doors to lock so once inside you feel safe, and the lady who runs the desk is nice. However, the bedspread is super dirty and the window wouldn't latch so if it is cold out prepare to freeze at night. There is a loud club and noise at nighttime. The bathroom shower is touching the toilet and sink and the fan in the bathroom makes a horrible noise whenever the light is on. I would not stay here again but I usually only stay in three star hotels and up. It is like a motel 6. But they are connected to another hotel nearby that is worth paying the little more for, from the lobby, and because they have staff all night. Sorry I didn't take pictures but unless you want a one and half to two star place I'd pay the extra fifty for a different one.

Room Tip: You can choose between a communal bathroom or one in the room. Don't know how you pick which roo...
