“first rate management”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Bottom line - this B & B has a first rate management and an excellent staff. Diletta did everything possible to make us comfortable! This began with her prompt and courteous replies to my many emailed questions, as I planned our return visit to Florence and the vicinity.

I chose the Villa Antea because we planned to have a rental car and make day-trips to various hill towns from Florence. Most of the comments about the Villa you will read on tripadvisor are spot on and the photos are accurate.

Our ground floor room #1 was spacious and quiet. There was plenty of room in the closet and drawers for our 8 night stay and an in-room safe. There were no comfortable reading chairs in the room, however. The king-size bed was comfortable and the linens were fine. Wifi was available. The large bathroom had a spacious shower but no tub, which I would have enjoyed having after a long day of marching around. (I do see a tub on the website, if this would be a preference.) There was a small magnifying mirror to the side of the sink which had a very wide rim for your toiletries, but the lighting, coming form the high ceiling, was not very effective.

Breakfasts were adequate - yogurts, fruit, sweet rolls, excellent coffee, some cheeses and meats, eggs, if you wished, served in a lovely salon with a very nice selection of subdued music.
We were very happy with our choice, and, yes, I would recommend this B & B to my best friend!

We stayed for five days in weather that was atrocious: cold, windy, and wet. Nevertheless, we had a great time in large part due to the staff/location of Villa Antea. It is very quiet location in a residential neighborhood just north of the central area of Florence. The room was huge and the bathroom even bigger. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfasts were included and although choices somewhat limited, quality was very good. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Location was a 15 minute walk to the historic section and pleasant as not much vehicle traffic there. Location is also convenient to bus lines and the bus/museum "Florence Pass" makes it very cheap to get around and in. We plan to stay there next time in Florence.

My husband and I stayed for two nights and it was absolutely lovely. The villa was charming, the host wonderfully welcoming, and our room was far more luxurious than we expected for the very reasonable price, but it was the unbelievable bathroom which was nearly as large as the room itself that blew us away: it was so modern, beautifully designed, and cooler than cool that we felt like we were in a palace.

The villa itself is in a residential neighborhood that's an easy walk from the town center -- it's GOOD to be out of the fray at the end of the day. And it's fun to explore the more authentic, local stores and restaurants. We can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: Choose one above the ground level for views.

I stayed here with my wife for 2 nights and it was perfect, only 15 min walk to the downtown area and for the price I couldn't of asked for a better spot. The bathroom was massive with the biggest shower I had ever seen. The staff was extremely nice and the breakfast was great!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Villa Antea for 3 nights at the start of Novemeber.

I love to organise and plan my trips well in advance, and continually bugged Dilleta with various emails about local restaurants, what to do etc etc. She always replied to my emails promptly and her responses were always very helpful. When we arrived, all of the staff were knowledgable, attentive and super friendly.

She recommended some fantsatic local resturants and booked them all for me. They were all full of italians - no English menu translations or other English people - which was fantastic - a great genuine experience.

As for the B and B it was genuinely lovely. Located about 20 minute walk from the centre - (an easy walk down a straight road lined with boutiques and cafes!) it was perfect.

The building has been converted from the old tradditional family home and has retained the fabulous high ceilings and authentic decor.

The rooms were spotless, huge for European standards and tasetfully furnished - the pictures so not do it justice!

The only grumble is that you could hear the road noise if on the front of the house - but only from about 8am onwards so not really a problem. Also, it didnt wake us - we were only aware of it once we had woken up!

Overall this place is an excellent find - I have already recommended to all my friends and family!

Small and intimate B & B in a quiet part of city. 30 min walk to Ponte Vechia...Nice local eateries nearby.....staff was very friendly.....rooms comfortable...shop for last minute deals on their own site......no elevator! interesting shower but we never quite figured out how to fully operate it...big bath room and shower...big! Limited staff to carry bags...all we saw were small women! Nearly check out is on your own.....nice breakfast including eggs cooked to order and European buffet....historic building....very nicely restored.....I would return......especially if I found a reduced rate!

Very friendly and helpful staff, a large room with a wonderfully comfortable bed. The bathroom was enormous and the linens were top quality. The villa is just the right distance to the centre of Florence, about 15 minutes. A list of very good restaurants was provided, all within 5 minutes walking distance along with details of the main attractions and some lesser known ones.
