“Nice hotel, great location, a little noisy in front”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Stayed here for 3 nights in late October 2012. Very nice hotel, well cared for and clean. About a long 4 block stroll from train station. We rolled our luggage one way from station (was raining the day we left so we got a taxi). Right across the street from Piazza Indipendence, nice place to walk. There is a spagettaria next door on ground level which has some very good food at a reasonable price. We also walked to and fro from the Uffizi Gallery. Also did day trip from here to Pisa to see Leaning Tower. Good location for day trips and Firenze attractions. Staff friendly and helpful and spoke good English, though I mostly spoke Italian with them. Breakfast is quite good and free. Front desk service is commendable, and for Firenze, the price was pretty good. Would stay here again, though Saturday night the natives got a little loud across the street.

Room Tip: I'd try to avoid rooms facing the Piazza because of noise on Saturday night. Otherwise, anyplac...

Wonderful owners, very friendly, warm & welcoming. Breakfast was all that we needed. Great location, which is a short walk from the central train station & all the old town. The rooms are well kept and have a nice feel to them. Thank you so much!

I stayed here together with my dad and stepmom from Nov. 25 to 28, 2012. I took a gamble and based my choice on reviews, location and rates and i'm glad I made the right choice. The hotel is located just and easy 10 to 15 mins. (depending on your pace) walk from the train station and likewise close to most major attractions.

Upon arrival, we were immediately met and checked-in by the amiable Monica. We were starving as it was almost 3pm and she was likewise kind enough to recommend some good places to eat nearby. Our triple room was just the right size with a queen size bed and a single bed. The bathroom was spacious enough as well. It would nice though if a shower curtain or partition is provided to avoid getting the bathroom floor wet. Another thing nice is the room was directly facing a park which was nice each time you open your window when you wake up in the morning, Some people may have issues with the noise at the park at night but this didn't bother us too much when you close the window.

I must say that the breakfast buffet spread was the nicest we've ever had in Italy. Giving us more choices for meats, breads, juices, etc. I would always wake up early ahead of the rest and would often see the signoras preparing the breakfast room early in the morning. They didn't speak too much but were very nice and always had a sincere smile on their face.

I would have to make special mention of Giuseppe who really made our stay extra special. He would initially strike you as a no non-sense, distinguished guy but wait until he cracks up a joke. He was so kind to even recommend and arrange a tour for us. He even made reservations for our museum visits and offered us other helpful advice on nice places to see.

To Giuseppe, Monica, the lovely breakfast signoras and the rest of the staff of Hotel Caravaggio, thank you so much for making our stay in Florence a truly enjoyable experience. One last thing, staying here won't cost you an arm and a leg. This hotel is definitely highly recommended.

As this was my first time to Italy, I quickly was reminded about how small, old, and QUAINT European hotels can be. Our room was very clean and had adequate space for my husband and I and our two suitcases of STUFF. But, what I really liked about the hotel was the excellent service that we received from the desk staff. They liked when we tried to speak Italian, but did not frown when we were too tired to continue. Instead, they spoke great English and booked tours, recommended restaurants, and helped us navigate our way around the city. The breakfast (that was included) was a very good typical "European" fare. Included breads, meats, cheeses, yogurt, granola, fruit, tea, coffee, juice, etc. The location was close to the train station (we walked with our baggage), but out of the fast paced, noisy, tourist area. We like to experience the journey to the destination (which is really not that far)!

The location of this hotel was good being only a ten minute walk to the train station and a little more to the major sights. Very friendly staff [especially Joseph] who also kindly arranged a couple of reservations to the galleries for us - do this to avoid long queues. The rooms were comfortable although our shower leaked [no screen] and the breakfast was good.

The hotel directions were very good and it is less than a 10 minute walk from the train station with luggage. Check in was easy. The hotel has a lift.
Our room faced the park and my only complaint at this hotel at all is not even their fault, but it can be noisy at night with young people congregating there until the wee hours. The room was fine. We asked for extra pillows from housekeeping as soon as we got to the room and received them promptly. It was nice to have the hot water kettle. They provided the makings for tea, but Not coffee. I had brought coffee single serves.
Joseph at the front desk was very helpful. He recommended a tour company for us and arranged the tour of Tuscany for us. He also recommended a good restaurant for dinner: Za zas is just 2 blocks away.
When we frst arrived, we had very little time before our reservations at the Accademia Gallery, and we were very hungry. We went next door and had the best pizza and they made it so fast! So be sure to try that place.
The breakfast was very good. Coffee was good and there were the usual offerings that we found at all the other hotels in Italy. The little terrace off the breakfast room is a very nice place to sit for breakfast and we had it all to ourselves since it was a bit chilly in the mornings.

We arrived by train into Florence quite late in the evening in the pouring rain and were able to walk, about 10 minutes to the Hotel Caravaggio. It was a good thing it was close by as the taxi line was huge. There were plenty of great options on restaurants on every corner. The people at the front desk were always very helpful and polite. The breakfast was much better than I expected, fresh rolls, meats, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, fruit and yoghurt and cereal. I would recommend upgradig to a superior room. The view was much better.

Room Tip: superior rooms have the best views
