“Very good hotel, we will be back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed here for 3 nights in November as one of our party were running the florence marathon. The hotel had taken this into consideration and laid on an early breakfast that day which was a nice touch. We also got a room with a bath for soaking afterwards which was useful. The rooms are plain but comfortable and bigger than I expected compared to say rooms in Paris. The only English tv channels are news channels but it's better than nothing. Free wifi was great for looking up places to visit. The hairdryer in the bathroom isn't the best. The reception staff are brilliant and were able to show us where the main attractions are on a map and recommended a lovely restaurant nearby after the marathon when we didn't want to go far. The walls are quite thin and we could hear someone walking around in high heels in the room above, but I wore ear plugs and had no problems. As mentioned by previous reviews the pillows are really hard and uncomfortable, so on the second day we asked for feather down pillows at reception and they were delivered to our room and were soooo much better. The only thing missing from the room is tea and coffee facilities.

We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel was welcoming and clean and the front of house staff were very helpful and friendly. The room itself was bigger than some i had stayed in in a similar class and the bathroom was fabulous. The breakfast room and staff were exceptionally good as was the small hotel bar. On our last day after check out they were happy to hold onto our bags as our flight was a late one which enabled us to go exploring without having to drag them around with us all day. Twice we asked them to order us a taxi and on both occasions it had arrived within a couple of minutes. The first night we felt our pillows were not comfortable and we asked if they could be changed, we were immediately directed to a 'pillow menu' in the room and chose different ones and the staff replaced them straight away- brilliant! Overall, this was a very pleasant experience, not whistles and bells, more genuine, traditional and comfortable and we would definitely stay there again.

Just come back from three nights with my cousin. Arrived later than expected due to delayed flight. Beautiful spotless room with lovely crisp bedlinen and fab marble bathroom. Room had super polish wood floor which is so much nicer than carpet as they can be a bit tacky and hold smells. Consierge staff were brilliant, couldnt be more helpful and their restaurant recommendations for each night were spot on.
One of us had our bag stolen next day in town and the staff went above and beyond for us. When we came down the next morning they had all the telephone numbers ready that we would need, British Embassy etc, and had printed off all the train times to and from Rome for us, explaining which ones where the express trains and the prices. We rang from the lobby incase we needed anything explaining and were not charged for any of the numerous calls we made.
The breakfast each moring was delicious and all the staff were extreamly kind. I noted that all the staff were Italian, no Eastern Europians and had a pride in their work and town.
I have racked my brain for something I could possibly complain about and the only thing I could come up with was that the pillows were a little thin but as the pillow cases were changed everyday I think it would be a seriously picky person who could find fault with this hotel.

Room Tip: Ours was lovely and we hadnt asked for anything in particular but I may have mentioned that my cousi...

My friend and I booked this through European Destinations and stayed at San Gallo Palace for 8 nights, over Thanksgiving, 2014. From even before our arrival, the customer service was great. We emailed them with a few random questions and they responded very promptly and were so friendly and welcoming in their response. Once there, they didn't disappoint! The staff was so patient and helpful with our many questions and they went above and beyond to help us with transportation, directions, travel tips, etc. The hotel was very clean and the free breakfast had extensive offerings and great service as well. We had been a little apprehensive about staying a little bit out of town but Florence is so walkable and public transportation so frequent and close by, that it wasn't a factor. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor, just beyond the bar/restaurant, and had our own courtyard area. I...

We stayed here for 4 nights, after our travel company moved us due to a hotel flood at our originally booked hotel. It was pleasant enough, but didn't wow us. It is a rambling building and we got a little lost at first! The room was clean and spacious, but the heating worked with air con, so we woke each morning, very dry! There was a fair breakfast each morning, and staff were friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, it is some distance from the centre, and although we embraced the walk at first, it did wear us down and we couldn't face it on last evening. However, the local area is entirely un-touristic, and there are lovely shops and bars really close to this hotel if you have enough of the very touristic centre of Florence!

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The rooms were good sized and the bathroom was spacious !!! The breakfast was good too !!! The hotel is not in the city centre but the sights are a 15-20 walk and we walked everywhere. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again !!!!

My husband and I stayed 4 nights here and we were thrilled to be here. It is exactly as described and the staff were so so nice. A special mention to the staff in the breakfast room. It is a little out of town but that was what we wanted and we walked to the attractions of Florence easily. It fact we walked everywhere. Was a wonderful time.

Room Tip: All rooms would fine, I think. The windows are sound proof. Our room faced the side road.
