Stayed here for 4 nights in June. We were very happy with the hotel. I would give 4 1/2 if it were possible, so that would be a very, very good thing. Now if you absolutely need free wi-fi to make your visit to an amazing, historic, art-filled city like Florence worth your while, you should pick somewhere else to stay. Otherwise this place absolutely did it for us. Okay, the breakfast wasn't what i would call 4 star but it had a good range of food and the juices were great. It does sit quite near to a busy roundabout so it's not the quietest place, but then again you are in a major city and traffic happens. Just depends on what you want. Once you are in the hotel you can’t really hear the traffic. It's not a huge place, with 3 floors of rooms and facilities and one below ground which is where the breakfast room is. Off the breakfast room are about 8 tables outside so you can breakfast in the open, which is a really lovely way to start your day. And a boon if you happen to be a smoker. The service was faultless – the staff was friendly, accomodating and helpful in any way. The hotel is a bit of tardis - you don’t feel like you are in a big hotel but in a more homely place. There wasn’t noise in the hotel, it’s carpeted, the halls are not huge so it’s almost like soundproofing. Our room, a Classic room, was the perfect size for us - not huge but had everything in it that you would need, and it even had a small balcony as well, which overlooked Italian flats. It was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle and the view was just so “Italian”. It was very comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space (something is lacking in other hotel rooms that are twice the size!) and the air conditioner worked very well – very important in Florence in the summer! There’s a garden in the front of the hotel, just off to the left as you walk through the gate, with about 5-6 tables – great for drinks or even a light meal if you can’t make it back out of the hotel after an exhausting day of sightseeing. This is not a big name hotel and it’s not in the middle of the action, which made it perfect for us. Also to note is that it’s very close to bus stops that will take you into town and even one of the hop –on / hop-off buses stops just a few minutes away. We walked from the main train station, which I wouldn’t recommend if you have heavy bags or if you are already a bit tired. Spring for a cab – it’s about 10E and definitely worth it - or take one of those City bus which stops near the hotel . Another thing that we loved is that it’s about a 10-15 min walk to the Gallerie dell'Accademia – you must stop in and see Michaelangelo’s David if you can (but get ready for long queues!). There are good restaurants in the area, a very nice gelateria about 30 seconds away and the Piazza della Liberta is on your doorstep. According to Wiki – the Piazza is the northernmost point of historic Florence – so really a good way to start your trip! All in all we really loved this hotel and would definitely stay here again if we can ever back to Florence!
