“Convenience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

I've been travelling to Florence since long and have had quite good and also bad experiences with the hotels...I've stayed in Hotel Santa Maria Novella first time in June. Very convenient location, close to the central train station, city center and very good restaurants like Buca Mario, Gargani... Friendly, helpful people and very clean! Rooms are quite nice, especially the ones with big windows, facing the square. If you do not prefer to run across beautiful Arno river which is very close by, there is a quite good gym in the hotel too.

My junior suite was pretty spacious with a nice bathroom and tub. Room overlooking SMN piazza and the SMN church. Pretty good breakfast buffet and the common rooms are beautiful. Friendly staff. Small reception area but didn't bother me.

We used this hotel as a base to explore the beautiful city of Florence. The hotel is wonderfully located to provide access to the city and, via the adjacent railway station, further afield if necessary.
Our room overlooked the square from the fifth floor which gave us a great view especially when the market set up. The room was spacious, comfortable and spotless.
Breakfast comprised the usual buffet choices but everything was fresh and the service was very good. In fact service from all the staff in the hotel was excellent and the front desk team helped us choose and find some very enjoyable places to eat. After 6 days we were sad to leave and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Excellent hotel in a central location in Florence. The room was beautiful and was bigger than we expected. We would definitely stay there again. We had a busy itinerary so we didn't try the breakfast.

As an entire 'package' of Location,Quality,Comfort with Helpful & Friendly Staff, this Hotel really ticks all the boxes. The Hotel is very Elegant,Stylish, & very Well Situated in this Wonderful City and maintained to an extremely High Standard. We stayed in a Junior Suite (Room 203) which overlooked the Santa Maria Novella Square Itself, Our Room 'mirrored' the standard of care throughout the Hotel and 'spoke', as the entire Hotel does of 'tlc' Every 'surface' literally gleamed including the Wooden Flooring. The Staff are All Very Helpful & always Very Friendly. The Hotel Entrance leads into the Square & is central to All the local amienties, Tea Rooms, Restaurants etc. whilst only being a 10min walk to either the Main Train Station Or the Duomo, and is directly Opposite the Church. Whilst the Hotel doesn't have a Restaurant it does have a Very charming, authentic Itailian Styled Breakfast Room - which carries an extensive range of 'multi-nation' foods to broadly satisfy every taste. There are some very good Restaurants within a few moments walk of the Hotel and perhaps most importantly are frequented by Both 'locals & tourists.' I have long been a great believer that the Best Places to Eat, are where the 'locals frequent'. As an aside, A Couple of general Tip's, Taxi's operate on a Fixed Cost of 20euros for Trip's to/from the Airport, plus 1euro per Item of Luggage/Bag, Its only 7km from the Centre of Florence to the Airport so you will only need to allow about 20mins for the trip. There is an Open-Top Tour Bus Service which in essence Operates Two Lines, A & B, Both 'run' around the Edges of the City, usual arrangement, On/Off Service, & re-join when required - neither run through the 'centre' of Florence, Its a walking City, so to get to the major attractions you will need to walk. The Tour Bus Costs 20euros for both Lines A & B for the Day, or 25euros if you want a Two Day Pass

Room Tip: Highly Recommend the Junior Suites (we stayed in Room 203) that overlook the Square Itself.

this is a lovely hotel in an old building and in the perfect location. Piazza Di Santa Maria Novella is a lovely square and you can walk to the Duomo, Uffizi, Academia and Mercator Centrale from here.
The staff are, without exception, very welcoming and helpful.
Thank you everyone at Santa Maria for your kind hospitality. We look forward to being back soon.

So close to the Train Station, yet you would not know it, on the edge of a beautiful Piazza and minutes away from the oldest Pharmacy in Europe - Santa Maria Novella.
The staff at this Hotel make you feel welcome and always at your disposal.
Breakfast staff are great too, and the Hotel is very well maintained, with a lot of pride.
