“Amazing hotel, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

My friend and I stayed here the last week in April. The hotel was absolutely superb! The room was amazing, great view of the Santa Maria Novella, our windows opened up to the plaza and it was absolutely beautiful. Everything was within walking distance, and it was convienently by the train station. The bed was super comfy and we LOVED the plush robes and slippers. The shower was unbelievable. Best shower ever. It's great to go out and see Florence and come back to the hotel before dinner and shower, so relaxing.

The hotel staff was extremely accomodating. Anything we needed the hotel staff was there for us. They told us great restaurant locations, definitely eat at Buca Mario. Pricey, but worth it. You have to get the Florentine Steak, it's enormous and delicious! The breakfast staff was sweet and friendly and the spread was amazing. We never had to wait for a coffee and it was such a pleasant atmosphere.

Definitely my favorite hotel that we stayed at in Italy on this trip. A must stay!

My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel for the beginning of our honeymoon and it was wonderful. I have been to Florence twice before and this was the first time I stayed over in this part of the city and I loved the location! You are literally steps away from the train station and an easy walk to the Duomo and beyond. Breakfast was wonderful and the hotel amenities were great. We couldn't have been more pleased! Definitely stay here.

Excellent hotel. Booked a junior suite that was quite spacious. Linens and towels were top quality, usually found at more expensive hotels.. Great breakfast. Very centrally located and can walk everywhere in Florence. Stay here.

Spent 5 nights here as part of a leisure trip. Staff were helpful and welcoming - and had already responded very promptly to a pre-arrival query by e-mail. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, with a great view. Fixture and fittings very impressive, as was the bathroom. Excellent breakfast provided to set you up for the day. Hotel location is good - handy for the station and trains, buses etc to other locations and airports.

My husband and I spent four nights in Florence during our Italian honeymoon, 4/24-4/28. I planned and booked our entire two week trip, and relied heavily on TripAdvisor for booking the hotels throughout our trip, including this one. I am so happy we did!

I had booked a Junior Suite, and when checking in, we found out we were upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite. The walk to our room was a bit crazy, since we had to take the elevator up to floor 2, then walk down a hallway and take another elevator to floor 6...but, it was WELL worth it. Our suite was beautiful, you walked into a sitting room with a balcony off to the side, and then walked into a large bedroom with a king bed, a large walk-in closet, a large bathroom with a huge tub fit for two (which we loved soaking in every night after walking all day long), along with a balcony that ran alongside the front of the room overlooking the piazza.

We took the train from Venice to Florence, and it was a quick and easy walk with our luggage from the train station over to the hotel. Everyone was very friendly at the hotel, and the breakfast was great, lots of fresh cheeses and meats that my husband enjoyed, along with pastry, cereal, eggs, juices and helpful waitresses bringing us coffee.

The piazza has food/wine/cheese booths all set up throughout, it's almost like a mini farmer's market. We ended up having dinner there twice because it was so beautiful to sit out there and enjoy different treats from the different stands. We didn't notice any issues with loud noise keeping us up at night. We walked a ton and we were close to all the major sites.

Overall, there is nothing we could find fault with, it was a perfect stay for us, and would definitely go back to both Florence and this hotel!

Room Tip: The hotel controls the air conditioning downstairs, we had to call down for them to lower the temper...

Our room was large and lovely with a great view. However, to get to and from our room you had to use 2 elevators AND climb a flight of stairs. This made "coming and going" very time consuming. Every traveller needs and wants different things - we didn't find this hotel "perfect" for us but it has many good features - the primary one being the location and the views. The breakfast buffet was ample (although the bread/pastries were the worst we had in 3 weeks in Italy). The breakfast room could get crowded since there were several different tour groups there during our 4 day stay - the staff worked hard but it was difficult for them to accommodate so many people. If the price had been less I would be more complimentary ... Again, we had a large room with a good bathroom - and that can be difficult to find. The views from the roof terrace were terrific - we brought a glass of wine up there 2 evenings - and had the terrace to ourselves.

Good spot and enjoyed using the roof terrace. Our superior room was pretty moderate. It was clean and comfortable but had a random step in the room on the way to bathroom which had to remember if needing bathroom in the night. The air con wouldn't turn off when you were not in the room so often was a bit chilly. Also beware the staircase has grey steps and sometimes all blend and witnessed two people falling down them near them near the lift. Breakfast was great. Also liked the teas and coffee making things in room.
