“Ellegant and charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Excellent location and very nice classical ellegant decoration. My only issue will be with breakfast which was limited in choice. Big rooms and nice attention. Highly recommended. You can easily walk to the railway station and the Duomo.

Room Tip: There are rooms overlooking the square (Sta. Maria Novella). Rooms overlooking the inner yard are ve...

An easy walk from the train station, although with poor signage it was difficult to find. Look for 2 topiary pot plants at the entrance when you enter the Santa Maria Novella Piazza (we found thanks to another trip advisor reviewer). We booked 3 double rooms for six of us and all were very well presented and spacious. One had a fabulous view of the Santa Maria Novella Church and Piazza, while the second had a very large marble bathroom and small balcony which would be lovely in summer. Very comfortable beds and the service and breakfast were good. The only negative we had was to reach our rooms we had to navigate up and down 2 sets of stairs on our level, which was challenging when it came to manevouring heavy suitcases to check out.

Room Tip: Suggest people who find stairs difficult request a room which does not require travelling through th...

This hotel is in an amazing location, within a 3-5 minute walk from the train station. It's also close to many great attractions and wonderful restaurants. Our room was clean and spacious, the bathroom was very luxurious, and we had an amazing view of the Piazza from our room. The hotel staff were very helpful, they made our arrangements for the Uffizi and the Accademia. Definitely would stay here again.

This hotel is close to the Santa Maria Nouvella station. About 10 minutes walking distance from the station on cobbled roads. Once you're in the square- it can be challenging to find the place as there are no boards giving directions. The lobby is small but the front desk is very helpful and welcoming.
We took 2 connecting rooms which were spacious and beautiful with a nice view of the Piazza. Decorated in a traditional manner, the white and gold bathrooms, the beautiful bed and stunning furniture gives the rooms an old world (yet modern) ambience. The bathrooms are beautiful, luxurious and clean with good quality toiletries. We were very happy.
Location is excellent. All major sights are a close walking distance.
Breakfast is fab. A big spread made the morning pleasant and set us off happily. Lots of restaurants and amenities nearby. No complaints.....
Rooms cleaned regularly

Room Tip: We were were very happy with our rooms facing the Piazza and our rooms were large.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon over New Years. The location is fantastic. It is close to the train station and walking distance to all other major attractions in Florence. We stayed in a deluxe room with a view. It was typical drapery/canopy bed decor. The rooms were a little small and the lay out made it difficult to settle in. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly with the exception of the owner. During our five night stay my husband was yelled at for filling his water bottle up in the gym. To add injury to insult, the woman who yelled proudly proclaimed she was the owner of the hotel. Needless to say when we returned to Florence on the same trip we stayed across the piazza at Grand Hotel Minerva. The Minerva was by far our favorite hotel in Florence.

We were in Florence between Christmas and New Year's with our two teenage daughters. We chose this hotel because we could get a family suite (two adjoining rooms), and we were not disappointed. The rooms were spacious (by European standards) with nice bathrooms, and the view out over the piazza was beautiful. The hotel is a short walk from the train station, although it can be a bit tricky to find (it's right on the square across from the church, but their signage is not particularly noticeable, at least not to us). Breakfast was very good, and the service was always friendly. We'd definitely stay here again.

A nice hotel with friendly welcome. Not that easy to find though as every other hotel in the square has its name emblazoned on the front, while at this hotel the only sign i could see was eventually a little brass plaque by the door. I had to ask where it was twice. I only stayed one night on business, and the room was a bit cramped with a mini double bed, and a shower that was ideal for a wafer thin supermodel. Impossible to use without soaking the floor. Good breakfast.
