“one of the best in Italy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2010

My Wife and I stayed in Florence for one night, and initially was a little unsure on this hotel. Its a bit tricky to find! But once your there, the staff (sorry we forgot the ladies name) were great. The room was better than expected with an en-suite and Sky TV. The bed was comfy and anything you could need was provided for.
Breakfast set us up for the day, but the bestthing was the location - within 2 minutes your amongst the hustle and bustle of Florence, yet come back to the hotel and its serene. They keep a "library" of travel books - i exchanged my Lonely Planet for a more specific one (sorry).
Parking is avalibel - but watch the charges when travelling in the centre of town - but the hotel sorted this all out for us.

A very good hotel - ideal if you want to see florence in a day like we had to!

We are happy to recommend this hotel for your stay in Florence. We are a family of four and were very comfortable in the Quadruple room. The hotel is very clean, right near Florence's main attractions. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The air conditioning worked great. And the breakfast was wonderful. My husband thought they served the best cappucino he ever had.

We stayed two nights in a double room with an additional small bedroom for our son. The room was bigger than I thought it would be (coming from Venice, where the room was really small).
The hotel was comfortable and always clean. The hotel had a very quiet, home-like, atmosphere. We enjoyed it.
The staff was fantastic! Very helpful and kind at all times. Its location is just perfect: two blocks from the Duomo and four blocks from the Academy Art Gallery. Very close to almost everything you need to see in Florence.

All in all, I recommend this hotel.

Only two things to note:

1. The wireless network didn't work the first day and I didn't say anything to the hotel staff. They fixed it the second day. If you experience the same, don't do like me: tell the staff immediately and I'm sure they'll help.

2. The door of the elevator is REALLY NARROW... We had problems everyday getting in and out with the stroller.

Everything else was good. I'd stay again in this hotel if I went to Florence again.

Really happy with this place, very clean and the customer service was excellent which sets it apart from anywhere else you may be thinking of staying within this budget range. I'd definitely stay there again and recommend it to my friends.

My wife, 2 kids, and I stayed here 4 days in June 2010. We decided to stay here based on the recommendations on tripadvisor. The hotel is 2 floors up, but there is small elevator that can be used. The staff was friendly and courteous. We arrived about an hour before normal check in time, but our room was ready and we were able to check in. Room was very clean and included a double bed and 2 twin beds. It also had a stand alone closet with drawers for your clothes. Our bedroom was actually bigger than I expected. Maybe, about the size of a standard room at a Holiday Inn back here in the US. It also came with air conditioning, small refrigerator, and small t.v. The refrigerator came with drinks. Although we did not drink any, I believe you have to pay for the drinks. The bathroom was smaller than bathrooms in US hotels, but it still met our needs. It included a hair blow dryer. There is daily maid service. Although the hotel is located on a main thoroughfare, it is really quiet at night. We made our reservations through their web site, which was very convenient.

Breakfast is served every morning. It was basic, but good enough for us. It consisted of such items as cereal, bread roll, fruit, cheese, and assorted meats.

The location was great! We took the train from Venice to Florence. From the train station, it is about a 15 - 20 minute walk to this hotel. The hotel is actually located in a multi-storied building that includes other business establishments. The Florence Duomo and Medici Chapel are a 5 minute walk away and the Uffizi Gallery about 15 minutes. The Accademia is about a 5 minute or so walk the other way. If you need to do laundry, a launderette is about an 8 minute walk away. Grocery markets are also within walking distance. Just ask the front desk for assistance as they were very helpful.

Overall, we enjoyed seeing the sights in Florence and our stay at Hotel Colomba! If we ever visit again, we will stay at Hotel Colomba.
