“WOW”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of November. It is a really wonderful hotel, and the staff and the service was brilliant. The terrace bar has outstanding views of Florence and had a really nice atmosphere to it. When ordering drinks we were always served with complimentary hor d'oeuvres which was a nice touch. The breakfast was outstanding and I there was a huge selection of very fresh food available, everything was available and was a good start to the day. Very spacious and comfortable room, with a well stocked fridge. The hotel is in a prime location along the Arno River and just steps away from the Ponte Vecchio everything is within walking distance. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Dear Guest

Thank you so much for this wonderful review!
It is fantastic to hear that you enjoyed our relaxing top floor bar with our amazing bartenders, always ready to pamper our guests with that little extra. It is a small "get away" were you can stop after a long day of shopping and strolling in the city. It is nice to hear that you had a lovely stay and that you would come back for your next Florence trip!
Me and my staff will be waiting for you!

Warm regards

I stayed here for 3 nights in October 2013 with my daughter. It was quite simply wonderful. The breakfast offered the usual wide range of options one would expect of a hotel in this bracket but the quality of everything I tried was outstanding for freshness and flavour. I found the staff to be professional, helpful and friendly and, as so many reviewers comment, the location is excellent. Our room was very clean and nice. I feel this was the best value for money stay I have had on the Continent for many years.

We have been to Florence many times before and stayed in some fantastic hotels and after reading all the great reviews about Degli Orafi we thought we should try it.

First of all, great location, all the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was nice, but the standard and decor of the rooms were very dated. I say rooms because the room, 410, we were given on our first night was tiny and with chipped lists and flaking wall paper, I asked if it was possible to upgrade. We were shown the only room that was available for our 5 nights stay but it didn't have a bath tub as we had requested, and it was an extra €30 per night so we thought we stick to our original room. We are not in Florence to sit in a hotel room anyway.

After our first night both me and my partner had the worst night sleep ever, there was some sort of extractor fan in the toilet that was on constantly and even with two doors closed it was incredibly noisy!

On our second evening I called the reception since it was still incredibly noisy, and a porter came to have a look and we were then moved to another room, 107. That room was also very tired looking and did not have a bath tub, but we were relieved not to have to listen to the noise and to get a decent night sleep!

We still had a fantastic time in Florence, and met many great people we've become friendly with over the past few years but wonder if we would have been given a better room if we had booked directly with the hotel instead of Alpha rooms or is this the actual standard of the rooms?

Dear Guest,

Thank you for reviewing our hotel on Tripadvisor!
It is disappointing to hear that you didn't leave fully satisfied but it is good to hear that we passed in terms of a friendly customer service and a pleasant breakfast experience.
Regarding the the decor I have to say that we publish ourselves as a historical building with typical Florentine style. The room you stayed in is a Classic Standard room, not very small around 20mq and furnished with this typcial decor. None of our rooms have wallpaper but if there is a chipp on a list it will be taken care of.
We gave you another option, to move you to a spacious modern Suite, with what I would say a moderate supplement. In terms of noise we did our best to avoid another inconvenience with you and had you changed to another Standard room, unfortunately due to high occupancy without a bathtub.
Hopefully next time, and I hope there will be one we will prove you that we can find you the right room, for your taste and needs!

Warm regards,

Despite its prime location along the Arno River and steps away from the Ponte Vecchio, the rooms and décor are tired and outdated. The rooms are carpeted, which we are not a fan of, and the bathrooms are also dated with pink marble. There is not a restaurant in the hotel, which is fine given the plethora of options outside, but the rooftop terrace bar leaves us longing for a better view. The bar is mostly indoors and there is an outside area which offers a slice of the Arno teasing us for more.

This is a gem! Superb service, clean, great amenities, wonderful rooftop bar and terrace with great views; outstanding and spacious rooms and a location that can't be beat - on the Arno River, next door to the Ufizzi. Breakfasts are excellent. We stayed here for six nights and would return on subsequent trips to Florence.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor (actually the second floor of the hotel) and had a great view of the Arno...

We stayed here on the last part of our Honeymoon. We only had 2 nights here but they were both very good. The breakfast was good, the rooftop patio was very nice. The hotel is right on the river, so it is a perfect place to go on a late night dinner search and come back via a river front stroll. Plenty of places to grab a bite and within walking distance of most all the historical sites.

We only spent 2 nights at this wonderful hotel and everything was great! The location is perfect for exploring the tourist sites and finding restaurants. The breakfast room was as beautiful as described by previous reviewers and the food was of excellent quality. Our room was a little small, but beautiful, and the view couldn't be beat. The little sitting areas in the hotel were enjoyable places to relax. We really felt like we were immersed in Florence. I did not want to leave this hotel!

Room Tip: The room with the balcony was fabulous!
