The hotel certainly sits in an enviable position. It's next door to the Uffizi gallery, and less than 100m to the Ponte Vecchio. The hotel itself is a mixed bag. It seems to be two hotels in one. The Orafi and the Tower. The Orafi is the hotel while the Tower is a collection of 'apartments' that have small kitchens, living rooms, and extra bathrooms. We stayed in one of the apartments and so can only really review these...
The room was large, comfortable and has all the amenities you could wish for. The bathrooms were spacious and well appointed. The breakfast is fantastic, just what you need to set you up for the day. If you're lucky you can have breakfast overlooking the Arno. The rooftop terrace is ok, but the only real view is one of the Duomo.
I wouldn't call it a 'boutique' hotel, perhaps the hotel rooms better fit this description? Not all rooms have views - ours was of a wall. Staff are on the whole very helpful, unfortunately some are very unhelpful (not helpful to book you tickets to a museum then tell you to join the wrong queue).
I can only apologise if this review leaves you uncertain about this hotel, but that's exactly how we feel about it. Could I recommend it to a friend - probably but only if they were desperate to be right in the middle of the Centro Storico...

We thank you for your review after your recent stay with us.
We were astonished to hear that your overall experience was not to your satisfaction.
The hotel, as stated on our website is a 4-star hotel located in an ancient building dating back to the 13th century. The other part, The Orafi tower is a old medieval tower, destroyed and today partly restored. This new part accommodates the big modern Suite apartments. The hotel, as most of the buildings do not have all the rooms facing the Arno river, some face the quiet inner yard, the back of the Uffizi gallery and so on. If you want to be sure to have the view you expect we are more than happy to receive your email with your special request in order to satisfy your needs.
Regarding the staff, I am sorry to hear that you felt that someone was not helpful enough. We daily book tours, restaurants or museums to our clients, without taking any profit for it and as you might have read by the other reviews one of our biggest advantage is our excellent staff.
The Roof top bar is a very popular place, even people not staying in our hotel daily pass to have a look of our amazing views of the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, the Vasarian Corridor and the other Florence surroundings. I am sorry you didn’t appreciate this little relaxing gem.
As I always say both me and my staff are always available to answer your questions, to change a room or just clear up a misunderstanding. We are more than happy if you stop by the reception, so we get the chance to have a real dialogue.
We truly hope you will give us another chance to welcome you back to Hotel degli Orafi,
