“great little find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights earlier this month and what a great find it was!

We had booked double room room with ensuite and it was perfect, there was just enough space for our two cases and us. The bed was a tad on the firm side for my liking but after a long day of sightseeing I never failed to sleep at night!

Considering located on busy street the room was surprisingly quiet at night!

Staff were very friendly and available throughout the day to give recommendations on where to eat nearby. The Air conditioning was a welcome delight too.

We would definitely stay again!

Great location. Nice and clean. Friendly staff. English well spoken. Great noise insulation, extremely quiet for a hotel so near night spots. Price low to average for the area in prime season.
The third bed was a real bed, not just a cot stuck in the middle of the room. Room was nice size, bathroom well appointed. We were very comfortable.
Easy stroll from the Santa Maria Novella train station. Easy walk to the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and all other tourist areas. Loved the charm of the back streets. Finding the hotel can be a little tricky if approached for the first time from other than the St Maria Novella Piazza (behind the church across from the train station).
American coffee shop with nice breakfast pastries to the right of the St MN church in the piazza.
Definitely on our recommended list.

Cannot say enough nice things about the accommodations at Hotel Sole. The rooms are clean and well-maintained. The staff is friendly and curtious. The location is amazing with a views of a florentine street that truly makes you feel like you are living in Florence. And you are within walking distance of everything. The rooms are a tad small but comfortable. There are only 8 rooms so it may be hard to get a room sometimes so book in advance, it is worth it.

Hotel Sole is in a great location close the the S.M.N trainstation in Florence. It is within walking distance (with luggage) however when we arrived we got a cab to the hotel (but on return to the station we walked as we knew our way around!) It is 8.5 flights of stairs up to the 3rd floor of the building but there is a lift! We chose to do the stairs but the lift was great with luggage. The hotel is essentially a floor of a building turned into a small hotel.
The hotel itself was very clean and smelled good (my husband found his allergies a little bad though with whatever air freshener they used). The room was a modest size but not the smallest we stayed in on our trip. The bathroom was clean and the shower was a decent size. The internet was ok. It worked better at times and not so good at other times.
The only complaint I can think of was the bed. It was so hard that my back actually hurt the next day. I wish Ihad thought about putting some of the extra blankets on like another traveller!
No breakfast at this place but it is easy to walk around and find a place to eat anywhere around this hotel!
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Overall, Iwould recommend this hotel!

Dear Guest,

thank you very much for spending your free time to make a review of our hotel. I'm glad that you considered your stay in Hotel Sole quite good, and I apologize if your relax wasn't perfect because of a hard bed. I know that it's not easy to sleep in another bed different from your own, maybe if we knew your inconvenient with the bed we could try to solve the problem changing the mattress for example.

Anyway thank you for choosing Hotel Sole for your stay here and I hope that you will consider again our accommodation for a second travel to Florence.

Best regards,
Simone

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in April - great location, friendly staff especially Marco and Caroline! Room was clean and bathroom was spacious. Only some noise from the tavern below at night. Walking distance to everywhere!

We had a great week in Florence and our stay at this hotel (6 nights) made the experience all the more enjoyable. Perfect location - just a few steps from Piazza Santa Maria Novella, and a lazy 5-minute walk from the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria. The hotel was extremely clean, the room was delicately scented which gave it a luxurious feel and created a cozy atmosphere. The bathroom was amazing, compact space but far from cramped, fantastic shower, daily bio refills of shampoo/ shower gel/ soap. Very good Wi-Fi connectivity in the room.
I would like to compliment the hotel personnel for the exceptional attitude and service provided, we printed last-minute museum reservations at the reception desk, left our luggage in the hotel after check-out and collected it late in the afternoon on our way to the train station.
There is a small bakery shop and a cafe right at the corner of the street which provided freshly baked croissants and pastries and great coffee, a beer & pizza house right next to the hotel was available until late in the evening. A 3-minute walk towards the city center to Via dei Calzaiuoli provides an even greater early morning choice of cafes even as early as 8am.

I just happened to stay at this hotel while back in Florence. There is a laundromat, bar, coffee shop, hardware store, etc all on the same street! The hotel is on the 5th floor but there is a teeny elevator (2 people or 1 with bags) that is new and safe. The hotel room was clean and smelled really fresh (many places you walk into smell like the sewer in Florence). I stayed three nights and on the day of my check out, they allowed my to keep my bags at the hotel until I left for my night train. The rooms can be cold in Italy as heating is very expensive. However, in the larger room, it heated up quickly. The smaller room I stayed in on my last night was cooler, until the wall unit heated up, then it was very warm.
One con- the beds are not very comfortable. BUT in all rooms there were extra pillows and blankets, so I put one on the bed as an added cushion and slept great.
Give it a shot!

Dear Ms. Kayla,
Thank you very much for your good review about our hotel. We’re very glad to know that you really enjoyed your stay here. I understand that not everybody can find our beds comfortable at all, some people prefer them harder and other people softer, we try to compensate it providing additional pillows and blankets. Reading what you’ve written, I think that the problem was solved immediately.

In the future we will be very happy to host you again for your stay in Florence.

Best regards,
Simone
