By far one of the best hotels we ever stayed in during our honeymoon and stay in Italy. We arrived via train, roughly a 15 minute walk with luggage in hand to arrive to the hotel. Passing a number of high end stores, we arrived to a rustic castle style building but dont let the rustic look from the outside fool you. We stayed at the "Grand Deluxe Romantic" room, which is a magnificent room. Very spacious and has views of the Arno river and Ponte Vecchio. FYI only a bathtub, so dont be expecting to shower. Besides the room, you will be amazed with the roof top deck. A wonderful 360 view of the city. Expect to take alot of pictures from there. Love this hotel nothing else can be said.

My hubby and I poured through a million websites, trying to find the perfect Florence hotel for our honeymoon. I truly believed we found it in Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni. We stayed there from March 24, 2013 - March 30, 2013, before moving onto a week's stay in the Chianti Hills. We selected this hotel because of the AMAZING rooftop dining/bar area and its fabulous view of the Duomo. It did not disappoint! And the night view (with the Duomo all lit up) is simply stunning. The hotel's staff was very kind, conversational, and extremely helpful. One of the bartenders gave us the most wonderful recommendation of a nearby restaurant for dinner. Breakfast was filled with delicious bruschetta, antipasti, fruits, breads, and cheeses. AND, the rooftop bar is an honesty bar after hours; you simply help yourself and write down your room number. So easy. The rooms were huge (at least ours was, located directly under the rooftop bar with one quick staircase to the top--trust me, it came in handy; the elevators moved at a glacier-pace). And the baths were modern and welcoming after long days in the chilly, wet month of March. We loved where this hotel was located, along the Arno River, one bridge away from Ponte Vecchio, away from all the tourists, yet still close enough to jump into all the tourist action if so desired. Truly, this hotel did not disappoint.

Except for this: If you love massages at all, DO NOT order a massage here. Their masseuse is not on-staff, which is fine (you simply pay her direct), but it was seriously, legitimately the ABSOLUTE WORST massage I have ever had. No pressure at all. She basically just smoothed her hands along my back, legs, and feet; and jjjjuuuuuuussssstttt when she was about to touch a spot in desperate need of a deep elbow-dig, she would barely push on it (teasing me), then slide right on by, continuing her general rub-down and neglecting all my desperate, overworked muscles. I was so tense and stressed and annoyed with all my muscles being heckled. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Can't say that enough. $200 wasted. Don't do it. Seriously.

Otherwise, hotel itself and everything about it (aside from masseuse) deserved a perfect 10!!

Room Tip: We appreciated our room just below the rooftop bar. It was quite large with a nice view, but most im...

We were only here for 2 days. Great location. Staff were very helpful. Charming rooftop terrace with bar. No restaurant. Free wifi. Our room overlooked the river. It was very large with a separate living room. The bath was also very large. Rooms are adequate. Nothing luxurious. But, the size of the room and the location offsets that. The hotel is sort of in an office building. This is not a detriment, just different. The views from the rooftop terrace are beautiful.

Dear dianemontgomery,
thank you for the kind comment posted on Tripadvisor.
I'm glad to take the opportunity to inform you that the Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni 1 is not a B&B but we are Historical REsidence, in fact, the building is a Tower house dated XIII century and we have rooms in the higher floor of the building from the 3° to the 6° floor included the 2 wonderful terraces and the Salotto with sound immersion on the top floors.

We only stayed for one night here and I can definitely say that we will be back. It was a 38C scorcher of a day when we arrived early for check-in, however our room was ready. From the moment we walked into the impressive cool stone lobby everything was wonderful. Staff with fabulous English booked us in and showed us around the hotel, we had a gorgeous room with very comfy bed and beautiful views of the roof-tops of Florence. Couldn't really use the roof terrace in the evening as it was still too hot but breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Arno was gorgeous. The location is perfect, lovely restaurants within a short walk and a gelato sitting in the square in the evening listening to the buskers was heaven. Everything about this place is first class - can't wait to go back!

Besides view and gorgeous room with two closets, marble bathroom and four poster bed, we felt like a Medici family member. Ferragamo store with great little museum of shoes, etc. was opposite our hotel. The roof terrace for breakfast was gorgeous with perfect view of the Duomo and all of Firenze. Go to the bar for drinks around five for a wonderful end to a perfect day. Air conditioning in hot August was working great. Absolutely memorable place to stay.

Room Tip: Deluxe upper floor room with library

We stayed here 3 nights beginning of August and we were a family of 4. We had room 301 which was virtually an apartment and suited our family perfectly. I understand other rooms have balconies, which ours did not BUT the size and amenities could not be beat. We had a view from our living room which looked out to the River Arno and bridges. The hotel has two top terrace; one which you can hang out at night and see all of Florence lit and along with the a bar. The other terrace is for the buffet breakfast. The buffet breakfast was wonderful wit a large selection of everything and as many capuccinos as you'd like. What we found wa the the people were extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely ask them to recommend restaurants. We could not have been happier with every place a they reserved for us. Also, they were able to get us tickets in advance for the Uffizzi and Academia which was very necessary, especially if you don't want to wait in line for hours! The location cannot be beat. It is located in a 12th century tower that overlooks the Arno and minuts walk to Ponte Vecchio. Really ideal -also the rooms were extremely quiet and beds delightful. Everything was wonderful here!

Room Tip: If you have a family and want to stay in the same room, room 301 was ideal as it had LR/DR, Kitchen...

Location, location, location...and wonderfully helpful and charming staff, from the front desk to the rooftop terrace bar, amidst what HAS to be the best view of Florence for miles and miles around. They even have an honor bar -- something you sure won't find in our home city of Miami! The staff are very knowledgeable about area restaurants (we loved BOTH of their recommendations), and also can help you pre-book tours of the Galleria del'Accademia for a nominal fee. Very well worth it, to bypass the long lines. The only negative associated with our stay here? We were at the hotel for only two nights. Not nearly enough! We already know we are coming back...and next time, for a longer stay!

Room Tip: The "grand deluxe rooms" are truly "grand" -- surprisingly spacious, and rich wi...
