“Just Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

We stayed 4 nights at this wonderful hotel. From the minute that we arrived we were made to feel welcome. All the staff are friendly and helpful - without exception.

We stayed in a grand deluxe room with a wonderful view of the Duomo and central Florence. It was spacious, clean and well appointed - the bathroom was also everything that you would want it to be.

As other reviewers have stated, the terrace space is truly wonderful. Breakfast is served here (all freshly prepared that morning) and the views of Florence are fantastic. There are two terraces, one with a view of all the attractions of central Florence and the other overlooking the reach of the River Arno as it flows through the city.

After this experience, we will not be staying in any other hotel in Florence - its just perfect!

“WALK TO PONTE VECCHIO, DUOMO ETC AND STAY IN LUXURY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

3 Glorious nights in Florence in this wonderful hotel. Upon arrival we were welcomed warmly and from then on treated like royalty by very helpful receptionista and staff. Rooms divine but the cherry is the ROOFTOP view from where you see the river and bridges. Sunset is picture perfect from there. We were also upgraded and loved every moment of the luxury and once again realized you get what you pay for.

“Great Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

We spent 3 nights at the Antica Torre in early November, and were very impressed with the hotel. Its location is wonderful, and the rooftop vista can’t be beat. Our room, a grand deluxe double, was wonderfully decorated and felt very plush. It also offered a lot of space, which was very nice.
There is a nice spread for breakfast, including an assortment of crostini. We loved eating breakfast on the rooftop veranda as well as enjoying drinks up there in the evening. The staff was more than helpful in making dinner reservations (as well as giving recommendations), and also trying to help us get into some of the busier sights in the city (a recommendation: make reservations for the Academia and the Uffizi in advance, even if you’re going in low season as we were).
While parts of Florence (the city center) were almost too crowded to enjoy, the Antica Torre provided a nice place in which to take a break from the chaos. From the rooftop, it’s easy to imagine what the city must have been like hundreds of years before it became the tourist landmark it is currently.

“WONDERFUL!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

A new hotel for me in Florence. We travelled in winter and thought the sunny roof terrace would be a loss - however we arrived in Florence to beautiful sunshine and made the most of the beautiful terrace. Brilliant!! Upon arrival were we're shown our rooms which had kindly been grouped together and our up-grade was very much appreciated!! The rooms were just beautiful and quiet and well-appointed. Free wifi. All clean and the beds comfortable!! Breakfast was lovely and the staff always so attentive and friendly. Great value for money. The location is excellent and easy walking distance to everything really!! Not far from the Ponte Vecchio - but it is quiet. Lovely rooftop views 360degrees. I cannot recommend this hotel more highly - will definitely be returning!!

“Lovely Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

We've just recently returned from a wonderful trip to Florence and this hotel was the icing on the cake.
The Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni is a beautiful little hotel, within easy walking distance from the railway station and most of the major attractions in Florence. We walked everywhere and nothing was too far away. We had a lovely room with our own balcony which was very nice. The views from the two rooftop terraces are superb and are a nice place to relax with a drink. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel very welcome and I would like to thank them for helping to make our stay so enjoyable. We wanted to go to a good restaurant for a nice meal on Valentines night and were recommended one by the reception staff which they booked for us and we were not disappointed. We sat at a table right by the Arno river overlooking the Ponte Vecchio bridge and had a delicious meal and a great night which we will never forget. The breakfast was very good, normal continental breakfast but they also did sausages, crispy bacon and scrambled egg. All in all, a great little hotel which we would definitely return to the next time we go to Florence.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
n the heart of Florence, in a prestigious 13th century building, you will find the Historical Tower "Antica Torre di via Tornabuoni n° 1. The historic building, which belonged to the Gianfigliazzi family until the end of the 18th century, hosted numerous important historical figures. At the beginning of the 20th century, the palace was transformed into a "Piccioli Guesthouse", quickly becoming a favorite residence of the English aristocrats and literati that loved the atmosphere of Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance and the Sweet New Style, with its churches, works of art and unique cultural climate. After the Great War, the Piccioli Guesthouse was closed, but reopened in 2001 under the name "Antica Torre". Thanks to careful restoration work which preserved and brought back to life all of the buildings original appeal, the Via Tornabuoni palace acquired life and warmth once again. The magnificent complex is considered one of the historic "tower houses" of Medieval Florence, and it preserves to this day the original architectural characteristics. It is an admirable example of how man is capable of taking buildings which were once devised for the purposes of war into oasis of peace, culture and hospitality. ... more   less
