“Perfect location, perfect price in Florence, Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

We received a tip on this place from a relative who had just stayed here and we called less than a week ahead of time for a one night stay. It was off season( March) but we were able to get a room for my wife and son and I for 108 Euros on line. It was only a couple of blocks from the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. Although it was on the 3rd floor and we had lots of luggage, the gentlemen that greeted us was very welcoming and accommodating and spoke English. He even offered us an umbrella to use at no charge, gave us a great dinner recommendation and they called a taxi for us in the morning to take us to the airport. They even included a free breakfast for us that was perfect.

Highly recommend this as a perfect place in Firenze!!

Just a lovely boutique hotel right in the center of Florence. Steps from the Duomo and many of the attractions. We walked just minutes to see museums and eat at some wonderful restaurants. Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. They provided information on local places along with maps. Free wi-fi was a plus. If you didn't have a computer they had one available for your use. Breakfast was more than adaquate. Only complaint was that the coffee was not hot. Staff spoke English so that was appreciated since our Italian is pathetic. Only complaint would be no rugs and no clocks in the room. Small price to pay for excellent value, excellent location and excellent facilities.

I came to love this hotel. Admittedly the entrance to the building looks a little shabby and you have to go up 3 floors before you even reach reception, but - as has been mentioned many times - the location is fabulous. You really could never lose the hotel as it's so close to the Duomo, and close by the train station as well. The staff were all really warm, friendly and helpful. The breakfast is your normal continental fare, but served with fantastic coffee - just as it should be in Italy! The rooms were absolutely fine - we found the bed to be the most comfortable thing we've ever slept in, and you control your own heating, which is nice. The only downside to the room was the tiled floor, which was pretty cold beginning of March. Generally though I would definitely return to this hotel and I'd also recommend to friends. The positives far out weigh any minor negatives.

Positive points:

fab location, right near everything. ciouldnt have asked for better.

good breakfast, plenty of choice.

pleasent looking rooms

staff were friendly and had a good local knowledge and spoke english which was a bonus!

Negative points:

When lots of people booked in to the hotel there can be a wait to get a table for breakfast, and this is in febrary! there were a couple of school trips though so maybe thats why!

we only stayed for 2 nights but althought we had clean towls, i wasnt convinced the sheets were changed, however.. i dont change my own sheets every night so wasnt worried!

the beds were not that comfy. my back did ache a bit the next morning, hubby also thought the same.

there was a begger outside the hotel all day, every day.. they didnt hassle and it wasnt a deal breaker but a bit offputting,

would have been great to of had tea/coffee making facilities in room/ fridge.

it was annoying having to go to reception everytime you wanted to go out to hand in the key, and then ask for it when you wanted to come in (when you just were walking nearby and wanted to use the toilet for example). but i guess you got used to it!

Florence is a smallish town when it comes to seeing the sights. At Perseo, you're just a few blocks from the trains and no more than a 10-15 minute walk to even the furthest attraction. You're almost literally next to the Duomo and Baptistry.

That being said, I didn't love this hotel. I'd rate it 3.5 if I could. In room 412 in a cold February 3 nights, the tile floor was freezing. Wear socks. The bathroom tub leaked all over the floor during a shower. And the ambulance sirens wail. But in Florence they're so loud I doubt anyone in an 8 block radius wouldn't wake up.

The staffers were decent. We had one from New Zealand who was incredibly helpful but the others were just okay. The breakfast was typical, nothing special, but free so that was nice as a bit of a budget traveler when it comes to lodging. And note: do not use the laundry service. 4 pants, 3 shirts, 4 socks and some small sleep wear was stretched to 2 loads and cost us 18 euro from the original 24 euro after some debate. We even asked them not to take it if they thought it'd be 2 loads, but we came back and sure enough that was the case.

So a value-to-location-to-reviews ratio was why we picked Perseo and it was about as expected. The heater worked well and the bed was just a bed. This was a value 3-Star hotel that lived up to a value 3-Star hotel. No one went out of their way to make it special and it wasn't. If you're just here to crash and be close to the attractions and save a few bucks, by all means this is the place.

I`ve stayed with my husband for 3 nights in February 2013. The Hotel is great, the breakfast was fine, the room was very comfortable (just a little problem with the bathroom, but it`s ok). The location is fantastic! I`ll stay in this hotel again definitely!

The location is great! Especially the proximity to the train station. We walked there with our suitcases and it was no problem.

Right next to the beautiful Duomo, so we never got lost

Tons of restaurants around, a lot are really touristy, but you can find great local ones close by.

We never took a taxi once.

Breakfast and coffee were great.

If you want a loud, bustling hotel with a bar and fancy restaurant, this isn't the best place. But it's clean, comfortable, homey, nice sized restroom.

Staff was super nice and helpful at all times.
