“Nice hotel with a friendly atmosphere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

The room was spacious and relatively clean. No breakfast was served and we had to go to a nearby hotel with a bad standard of the breakfast. The staff was helpful and nice. The price was modest and I can recommend the hotel which is located 12 km outside the airport and we didn't hear the traffic or the airplanes in our room.

We booked this hotel for our last night in Italy based on reviews in Tripadvisor and stayed here on the night of May 22, 2014. After driving up from southern Tuscany and negotiating the Florence traffic, we were welcomed to the hotel in mid-afternoon by Daniela, a very friendly and efficient young lady. We needed to return our rental car to the airport since the Hertz rental office wouldn't be open at the time of our very early flight the next morning. Daniela kindly printed off a map showing us the best route to get from the hotel to the rental car lot (which is rather difficult to find). Following her directions, we had no problems at all. On our return to the hotel by taxi, Daniela suggested several restaurants within walking distance, one of which we chose (Trattoria del Barco), and had an excellent meal. The room itself was very clean, comfortable, and significantly larger than the hotel room we had stayed at in downtown Florence three week's earlier. There was a notice advising guests to keep the windows closed at night, which we did, and combined with a good air conditioner, our room was very quiet. Our requested wake-up call came on time and the night desk clerk was very helpful in helping us get our suitcases downstairs to check out and get to the taxi which had been booked the previous evening. Overall, this hotel was excellent value with very friendly and helpful staff. The only minor quibble we had was that there was no shampoo or conditioner in the bathroom, but there is a well-stocked supermarket nearby. We will certainly stay here again next time we are in Florence.

We had an early flight out so wanted a hotel close to the airport. This hotel is about 1 km away on a sort of alley off the main street. But since it's not on the main drag, it is quieter. Rooms are nothing special, kind of like a typical US budget to mid-price motel room, say like Red Roof or Hampton, but for Florence, that ain't a bad thing. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. It does NOT have a shuttle to/from the airport.
If you take a public bus into the city center, the hotel will give you one ticket. Be SURE to buy a second one from the convenience store across the street as most buses do NOT sell tickets on board anymore, even though the signs say they do. We had only one ticket, but the convenience store had sold out. So we tried to buy a second ticket on board, were unable to do so, and were arrested for fare evasion. A really horrible experience! The transit police target older Americans and after much hassle we wound up paying a fine of 50 euros.

Room Tip: We asked for a room toward the back thinking it would be quieter, but after seeing the inside, I don...

Ourselves and another couple spent the night in this hotel on Saturday, May 17, 2014. We each had our wallet's, purse's camera's, IPads and cellphones stolen during the night. I personally caught the robber in my room at 3:45am ,and he jumped out the bathroom window.

The number one problem with this hotel, is it's a thief's dream come true. The bathroom window is 3 feet off the ground, they open like a sliding door, the dimension are 3x3 feet. Outside the room is a 6 foot walkway that goes around the second story rooms. The thief can easily access the roof walkway from the adjoining building. There are no bars or other forms of protection on the windows. If you keep the windows shut, there is a very small plastic stopper that might stop the thief from opening the window.

The second problem with this hotel is purely an opinion. The short and long of the opinion, is that the nighttime hotel clerk is in on the theft. They have several camera's filming the outside premises, which he failed to detect a thief. Our rooms were in different sections of the hotel and either the thief walked around the entire second floor undetected by video surveillance, robbed two rooms and probably other rooms on the premises or the clerk looked the other way. In addition as I ran down the hall to chase the thief, the night clerk could not open the door for a over a minute because he claimed he claimed he didn't know which key opened the front door. He declined to call the police because it would not make any difference and we would miss out flight due to the time it would take to complete a police report. Several guest where leaving around 5:30 am mentioned that the daytime clerk warned them about opening their windows.

The hotel price was good if your wailing to get robbed and have a thief in your room in the middle of the night.

Room Tip: Don't do it.

My wife and I stayed here the night of May 12th, 2014. We arrived at the hotel via a taxi from the airport near midnight. The gentleman at the desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and very quiet. We chose the Hotel Airport due to its location and price, and reviews we read.
When we checked out, the lady at the front desk was also very friendly and helpful. Even helped us with our bags and then offered to watch them while we went out to breakfast. She also called a taxi for us and then gave us each a bottle of water to go.
We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Our room was toward the back of the hotel on the second floor. In Europe, they call it the first flo...

This is a budget hotel with 5 star service! We stayed here the night of Feb. 5, 2014. Our group arrived in our car in front of the hotel and the lady at the front desk came out and met the car and helped us with our parking situation! We were immediately impressed! She then promptly checked us in and asked us if we needed a wake up call in the morning and a taxi to the airport. Very cool! Later on we asked her about where to eat and she made some great recommendations near the area and then actually booked us a reservation! Prior to dinner my group and I decided to open a bottle of wine but we didn't have an opener. Not only did she provide an opener she also gave us wine glasses and a tray! We were not expecting much when we came to this hotel but came away incredibly impressed with the service that if I were in Florence again I would stay here again!
