Florence center is so full of tourists it is hard to walk! Yes, after arriving by train we walked 35 min past many monuments. We found that our choice for overnight was in a quiet street, with garden trees, not far from a garden at banks of a river, in a world so different it was hard to imagine that could be Florence. The room was very large - furnished in 1970 style but very clean and fresh, bathroom was very new, 2010 style. AC worked, The key to the room could be from 1930. WiFi was very good and our room had a desk with build in fridge with water bottle as cheap as you get it in a shop. I think there was an elevator somewhere we never found as we were on 1st floor near to staircase. The front desk seemed to be always open, and all people we interacted with spoke fluent English which is not guaranteed in a ** Hotel. There was no special room for storing luggage which was quietly waiting in the breakfast room the day we roamed Florence. Regarding breakfast, do not drink the coffee in the thermos bottle, they will make a few nice cappucino or espresso for you at no cost. There is also juice, pastries, overall a very lush Italian breakfast, but make no mistake expecting US or German or English breakfast. The bus to train station was 4min walk away and it goes even on Sunday every 15min. I saw cars parked both in the street and what I think could be the courtyard, parking space seemed to be available. Not far from the hotel you can buy a Mercedes if you need one to see Florence, if not, take this as a hint about the area.
