On a beautiful sunny day my wife and I walked from near the rail station around quite a few back streets to avoid the the crowds and finally crossed the Arno river to for a nice stroll up the hill to this great viewing area. Once again full of tourists and stalls selling souvenirs. But thank heaven for the stall selling cold drinks, much needed after our long walk. Back to what we where there for the view, stunning Florence stretching way don the Arno valley. You don't realize how big Florence is until you see it from a view point like the Piazzale Michelangelo. Walking around the tourist attractions in the center you forget that is a much larger city beyond the Lorenzo market, theUffizi Gallery, the Duomo, the Vecchio Tower, Ponte Vecchio & Pitti Palace etc. Can't be it for the view on a nice day. Take the time make the effort, walk the walk. Visit Piazzale Michelangelo.
