“Best place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2007

You couldn't ask for a better B&B. The Dei Mori was just what we were looking for in a place to stay for our first trip to Florence. The location is perfect. It is very pretty, clean, comfortable and quiet. We spent four nights there last week and Suzanne and Dani went above and beyond every day to insure we were very well taken care of. They made our reservations at the museums, gave us directions to locations we wanted to see, provided us with names of restaurants they like and just generally gave us information as we needed it. My husband and I would love to return to Dei Mori. We also stayed at Dani and Peter's B&B out in the Tuscan countryside for three nights. The views there are breathtaking and it is the perfect location for drives through and around Tuscany. Our trip couldn't have been better thanks to our great hosts.

DeiMori provided a magical touch to our experience in Florence. Arriving in town, we made our way to this delightful spot, totally unaware that we were literally in the heart of the city. I could not have asked for a better location. More importantly, Suzanne, Peter and Danny represented the heart of the people of Florence. I enjoyed their company and conversation each an every day. Their lending library was very helpful, but their personal touch each morning was what made the difference. From directions to dinner reservations, they went out of their way to make our stay a special one. While the accommodations were lovely, it was the people that made the difference. I will return to my new home in Florence...

We enjoyed our two-night stay at the Dei Mori. The location is fabulous - central, safe, close to tourist "must sees", restaurants and shopping.

Suzanne was extremely friendly and helpful. Dani stayed late to greet us and made us feel at home on our first night. The B&B is very charming with painted ceilings, pleasant artwork, comfortable sofas, flowers and bookcases in the common area.

The breakfast selection is typically Italian with packaged breads and sweet cakes, but also includes fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea and juice which one can enjoy on the balcony, seated on the sofas or in a quiet little nook off the main room. The little refrigerator stocked with very reasonably priced wines, beers and sodas is a nice touch.

We had room number four which was comfortable and good sized, although the bathroom is very small and the frosted glass-windowed door doesn't give one much sense of privacy. The bed was comfortable though and everything was spotlessly clean.

We would certainly recommend the Dei Mori B&B as a very pleasant place to stay in Florence.

If I were to offer any constructive criticism to the owners, it would be the following:

Please offer to help guests carry their luggage upstairs when they arrive. I broke my back skiing last year and it was difficult for me to carry the luggage to the 3rd floor. It would have been nice for Dani to at least offer to help with the luggage.

Second, while the breakfast is better than in many small Italian hotels, I (and I'm sure some other guests) would appreciate the addition of a bread, cheese or something which is more savory than sweet.

My husband and I have just returned from a week long stay in Florence. There is so much to appreciate about this magnificant city and its people; and I believe that one of it's hidden treasures is the Dei Mori Bed and Breakfast. Just reflecting about our stay at Dei Mori puts a smile on my face. The atmosphere and character of this bed and breakfast is just what we were looking for. The location is in the heart and pulse of Florence, yet it is tucked away (almost across from Dante's House) where we enjoyed a quiet and peaceful night sleep after busy days of sightseeing. This is a small B&B with about 5 rooms which translates into getting lots of specialized attention. Daniella, Peter and Suzanne made recommendatins and reservations for us at local restauraunts, museums and specialized tours. We enjoyed talking to all three of our hosts about the history of Florence as well as the modern day challanges of its people. When I asked Suzanne for recommendatins on shopping for leather coats, she was kind enough to give me a quick lesson on what characteristics of quality to look for, i.e. finished stitching, etc. The service was wonderful and the price is affordable, they will even give you a discount for paying cash. Our daughter, who has been living in Florence as an exchange student this year, found this treasure of Dei Mori for us and it was just perfect. Dei Mori is on the third floor, so be prepard to climb the stairs. It is a good way to work off all of that pasta and Chianti and gelato!

  • Liked — Atmosphere, cleanliness, quiet. Hosts ere very helpful and gracious
  • Disliked — Bathtub to soak my tired legs and feet after long days of walking and sightseeing

If you're looking for accommodation in Florence in a great location and with excellent hospitality, this is it. We stayed 4 nights in this B & B and had a great experience. All the major attractions are well within walking distance and Peter, Danny and Suzanne are excellent hosts and incredibly helpful. Their local knowledge was a huge asset and not only did they recommend restaurants, but even booked us a table at one of them. We also had tickets pre-booked for us at the Uffizi, which meant we avoided the very long queue!!
Despite being in the centre of the city, this B&B is a real haven and our superior room was spacious, clean and comfortable. I thoroughly recommend this establishment and look forward to returning to it one day.
Peter, Danny and Suzanne - thank you

Have just returned from a wonderful four day trip to Florence. Our first visit to the beautiful city and our first stay at the Dei Mori.

What can I tell you about the Dei Mori? Apart from its central location, (2 mins from the Duomo), the Dei Mori is as much about the people as it is about the place. Our hosts, Peter, Danny and Suzanne are friendly and hospitable. Their local knowledge helping us really get the most out of our few days and giving us a flavour of what Florence living is all about.

Their welcome is warm - but not in your face - and the smell of fresh cut flowers when you walk in after a long journey lifts the jaded spirits!

I felt Dei Mori provided our home...away from home. I'm looking forward to returning.

This bed and breakfast is very conveniently located near the Duomo. It is easy to find and the people were very friendly. The only drawback (and it was a pretty big one) is that our room--number 4--had a really bad odor. It smelled like something had died in the wall and they were heavily perfuming the air with air freshener of some sort to try and cover it up. The result was overpowering and pretty nauseating. Our bathroom (across the hall) was another story, it was very nice, very clean and very large. The hallways and common areas did not smell at all--I'm pretty sure it was just our room, but it left a pretty bad impression.
