“Hotel did the job”

Pros: location near tourist sights and train station if planning to ride rails often with florence as home base. Our room was surprisingly a good size, don't know if that's same for all. Breakfast coffee was good. Cons: Bathroom was small and toilet flushing was a challenge. Dragging bags around step filled 5th floor was fun. Getting coffee during breakfast was a mission. Would book again for right price because really only used hotel to sleep.

San Giorgio is 3-4 minutes walk from SMN railway station and is easy to locate.

Room allotted to us on fifth floor was well sized with little terrace. But little worn out in terms of furniture and maintenance. The wardrobe was old. and did not closed properly. The Air-conditioner stopped working in the middle of night. (Not only in our room but also in neighboring room) The steel chairs in terrace were old and with damaged hand rest, etc. However, room and bathroom were clean. Bathroom is very small with tiny shower cubicle and the exhaust fan in my bathroom was not working. You can hear noise from adjacent rooms so privacy is limited.

Out side the rooms we had nice little semi open lounge but sofa springs had given away making you sink in it when you seat.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant on ground floor. The spread is very limited with Cereals, few bakery items and fruit and boiled eggs. No freshly prepared items are available. Tea and Coffee is served.

Staff is courteous, efficient and helpful. When I called for non working of a/c the fellow turned up is two minutes and started the machine. The reception persons were also helpful and efficient.

We visited Florence and we were recommended to stay at the San Giorgio Hotel.
We stayed 3 nights, in a large room with all expected amenities.
Received great service from the staff enjoy d the location and the access to so many restaurants. If you want a medium hotel in a central location, this hotel is highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed for seven nights from the 12th April we had requested a room overlooking the courtyard thinking it would be quiet - which it was but the room was dark. Next night we changed to a third floor room overlooking the street - a lot lighter and larger.I would suggest that the third floor or above should be requested.
The staff at the hotel could not be bettered they were attentive and efficient.
Location was excellent within walking distance of the station and bus terminal and minutes away from the Domus which you can see from the fifth floor.
Breakfast was continental style and well stocked
WiFi did reach the 3rd floor but the ground floor lounge was comfortable if you have any problems.
My view of this hotel is that it has plenty of old charm and style good value for money

The location of the hotel is great. It is a few minutes away from SMN train station and bus station. One could walk to Duomo. The minibuses stop a block away. The outdoor market is only a few blocks away. One can buy tripe Florentine style or beefheart sandwiches there. There is an excellent restaurant/deli on the same block as the hotel. Great sandwiches with Italian cold cuts. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. The breakfast offerings are extensive. I stayed in a room for the disabled which had a very large and convenient bathroom. TV only has Italian channels, but I have found that to be common in Italy.

The hotel room was very comfortable with a nice big bathroom. Very friendly and helpful staff at the reception.Could not have been better positioned for all the sites and the train station, great for travel out to surrounding areas and/or the airport at Pisa.
Breakfast was continental and adequate until you find somewhere for a leisurely lunch ( definitely no shortage of places for that.
All in all a great base for seeing this incredible city.

Room Tip: Higher floors will give rooftop view of the Duomo.

Typical Italian hotel I thought. The location Is fantastic. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful. If you want a boring, sterile souless hotel go stay in one. If you want a sense of Italy and are on a budget, try this.
