“David!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

I was excited to go see Michelangelo's David but was unprepared for just how stunning this piece of art is when you're standing in front of it. This was easily the most stunning piece of art I've ever seen and would not have cared if it was the only piece in the entire building, it's that fantastic. The lines are scary huge, so you must have a reservation or you'll waste the day waiting, but it is worth every penny to get inside and see this.

“Just wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Such a great place to visit. The art is beautiful and interesting. If you can walk across the street from the entrance and reserve your tickets ahead of time, avoid that 3 hour line.

“Breathtaking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

When you turn the corner and enter the main hall and you see the statue of David it takes your breath away. Trying to imagine sculpting that from a single piece of marble just boggles the mind. To see all of the other sculptures created there was just amazing. The unfinished sculpture of Jesus being taken down from the cross really makes you stop and think. The Accademia should be on everyone's list to do in Florence. You will not be disappointed.

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

So glad we visited is amazing collection of Renaissance art. Highly recommending reserving a time for your visit in advance as it will save you significant time standing in line. Unfortunately, you cannot take pictures of David but it is a magnificent piece of art and worth the museum just to see this 20 foot sculpture. If you're trying to fit a lot into your day in Florence, you can move through this museum in less than an hour. Some more serious art history fans may want to take more time but we got through in just under and hour.

“Awesome museum!! Highly recommend!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

I booked in advance my tickets through Viator. We had an english speaking guide and used the wireless headphone to hear him. This was one of best parts of our trip to Florence. Seeing those many sculptures from Michelangelo and then the highlight: David was an experience to remember. Our only complaint (like most other museums we visited), they did not let us use our cameras. You coudn't even sneak in a shot. Either way, it was a great experience being there and we will definitely visit this museum next time we go to Florence.
