Despite its good recommendations, we found our stay at the Hotel Liana very disappointing.

Firstly the room. We were given a ground floor room, right next to the main reception area. The walls were incredibly thin, and we could hear the people coming in and out of the hotel, as well as the people in the room next to ours, all the time. There was no feeling of privacy at all. The bathroom was bascially a converted closet, with poor quality toiletries. We also found blood on our sheets, which they did change, but there were some there the next day again after they had changed the bedspread.

The staff were also incredibly unhelpful. At no point did they offer to advise us on where to go in Florence. After asking what we could do on a cold and rainy Saturday night, the bloke at recpetion, suggested the Duomo Cathedral. When we pointed out that this would probably be closed, he went 'Oh yes, you're right', had a think, and his next brainwave was for us to take the open top city tour bus. In the cold and rain. Needless to say we came up with our own plans after that.

Breakfast was also very poor. The milk was UHT, not fresh and the rest of the spread a bit sad looking (and tasting).

On a positive not, the rooms are decorated nicely, and its nice not to be right in the city centre, but there are probably much better hotels that you can get round the area for a similar (or better price).

The water pressure was so low that there was little or no water on the second floor for shower or flushing the toilet. We visited the hotel in beginning of october 2012, so no season excuses by little rain or something else are valid.
Internet was only working at the reception of the hotel, while wifi should be available in the entire hotel.
The personnel did nothing with both complaints.
And by-the-way: there is no elevator; quite a climb with your luggage.

The location of the hotel is okay. The style of the hotel has something. The breakfast was good.

We arrived at HVL in mid-October, finding it really easy to walk from the stazione central, taking around 30mins. Upon arrival we were given the ground floor room, which was nice but due to the dehumidifier the window couldn't be closed and all traffic could be heard, didn't cause any huge problems overnight but when the locals fire up their Vespas to head off to work, we knew about it. We asked to change rooms, and this seemed to be no problem at all for the very helpful staff, and we were promptly moved to a room outside of the main building ad up the stairs which was lovely, airy and kept out the noise.
Breakfast was very good, and all you'd expect, albeit I'd advise that you can ask the kitchen staff for a cappuccino or latté rather than using the general pot;). The breakfast was easily sufficient to stave off hunger until much later in the day.
We were also advised of a good restaurant by the staff (Acquacotta) which was beautiful and very reasonable, and open very late:).
All in all a great stay and only 10-15minute walk from the Cathedral and pretty much on the same road as the Galleria Academica (which opens at 0815 and queues get huge). Would definitely stay here again.

Our first room was last floor, and well decor, with nice painting and the roof and hug. But the air in toilet didnt work, so next day we changed to other room which is less nicer than the first one as it is ground floor. The most important last floor could not connect internet, but our second room can connect which I love the most :-D, cause everyday I need to use internet for my works.
Second room also big, we have 1 big bed and 2 small beds.

Little bit for parking since we drive our own car and the entrance is a bit difficult access. Breakfast is fair, not many choice but fine.

Location is very good in the center just some minutes walking to down town where we can find many restaurants, bars, night club and sight seeing.

We will leave tomorrow and we are going to miss it ;-D
