“city centre gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

A very comfortable hotel in the heart of the historic centre, great location for exploring. We were very warmly welcomed by Monti at check in, who couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and enthusiastic and was a highlight of our trip! Monti also recommended two restaurants for dinner, which were both great successes! Room was clean, quiet and comfortable, all the staff were so willing to help, will definitely be back.

very good location in Florence, almost every places are in walking distance. Next to Ponte Vecchio. Staff is very friendly. AC is controlled by reception and all printing staff need to be emailed to reception. WiFi signal is too weak. Breakfast is good and free.

Well - we try! Wifi we have improved massively over the last couple of years. Each wall here is 60cm thick and we have had to install several repeaters within the hotel to make sure that wifi gets to each corner. - and we will carry on improving. Thanks for your comments - really useful.

We chose this hotel based on trip advisor and were not dissapointed!
Lovely, immaculate, quiet rooms, excellent service and an ideal location. There is a flight of stairs to get to the first landing where there is a small elevator. This may be a concern if someone in your group has mobility issues. We will return again.

You are right - mobility issues are not good here. It's best to be clear up front. Glad you had a great time. Come back one day!

Outstandingly friendly and helpful staff. Great location and excellent value for money. Elevation of hotel and its location on a quiet street made it very peaceful at night in an extremely vibrant and noisy city

You are so right. Florence is a tourist mecca. And lots of Florentines join in too. It can get noisy. But we are high enough and hidden enough for it not to affect us. So glad you enjoyed your stay.

My wife and I just got back from a wonderful tirp to Italy. We spent two nights and three days at the Hotel Alessandra. This property is close to all the main attractions in Florence, yet its just off the main street enough that its very quiet. This place is not a five star luxory hotel. That being said, it has everything one could ask for and what it lacks in luxory, it more than makes up for in personal attention and customer service. The service desk is amazing and their English is perfect. I have never stayed at a hotel that cared this much about their guests. We were lucky enough to be upgraded (on the house) to an apartment. If you are looking for a place to stay that is clean and quiet, close to everything, and offers great customer service, then this is the place to stay!

Room Tip: We had a River View with a private Balcony. Room 27.

A friend recommended Hotel Alessandra after his stay, and the reviews raved about the service. Happy to say the place lived up to the reputation. Friendly staff at check-in and beyond, and a comfortable room with private bath/toilet/bidet. The double bed was merely average, but the space was nice for Europe -- love the high ceiling. We could see the Duomo from our room, but don't think it's a clear vista. The cooler view actually was the narrow street right outside.

As for the location, it's hard to beat. You're tucked on a relatively quiet street yet only minutes from the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and the Arno and Piazza della Signoria. Piazzale Michelangelo, Accademia and just about everything else is within 30 minutes by foot. That's great for someone like me who loves to walk Florence. We would stay here again.

Being in such a large building and spread over a several floors we have lots of views - the river, rooftops and narrow streets; all interesting in their own way! Yes our location is cool - we say so ourselves -very cool! We are a quiet side street but within minutes of everything. Thank you for taking the time to comment, we enjoyed reading this.

We chose this hotel for a 3 day stay recently and found to be exactly what we wanted. We had one of the quad rooms, which was wonderfully spacious and perfect for our needs. Yes, there are some steps to be dealt with before reaching the world's smallest elevator, but we expected this and found it all charming and easy enough.
The employees were as helpful as can be. Monti is a treasure, which I'm sure they already know. He gave us 2 restaurant recommendations, which turned out to both be better than the ones we had been given by friends. The wifi works wonderfully, which was a huge help for us. There is no printer, but they very happily printed out my boarding passes for me at the desk.
We really loved Florence, and this hotel was perfect for our stay. I would definitely recommend.

Our family run hotel is right in the heart of Florence old town - near to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a home away from home, with our friendly team and extensive knowledge of the local area. The hotel entrance is situated on the second floor of the building. You can reach the reception floor using the lift, small but working fine (in the 1400s buildings hadn't been designed with this in mind!) but please note that there are around 30 steps from the entrance on the street level to the departure of the lift.
