“Wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Staying at the Palazzo was perfect for our stay in Florence. The staff did everything possible to make our stay wonderful. It was our honeymoon and there were several special treats- which I won't mention so as not to spoil any surprise for others- thank you Magnani Feroni! We stayed in the Angelica suite, which was well away from any street noise facing the inner courtyard, with it's own fireplace feature, grand mirror, balcony to the inner courtyard- a huge suite with antique furnishings but a modern bathroom. The interior of the hotel is small Italian palatial and very grand, be prepared that with original pieces a lot of the colours have faded, but still every piece in very good condition and so therefore very special. The staff have been with the hotel for some time and take much pride in the appearance and cleanliness- everything was immaculately clean. Even a glass of wine in the bar in the statued and tapestried entrance hall was very special- butler like service, with multiple pots of treats and snacks with each glass of wine! The entrance areas to the suites on the first and second floors are amazing. The first floor like something out of a Victorian library. The second floor like a grand ball room - we did sneak a few waltzes when no-one was looking!. The billiard room (with a large pool table) was a plus, we had some fun there. With all this period experience, we weren't quite sure what on earth a vibro machine was doing in the suite amongst all the antique furniture- that seemed a bit daft and could definitely go back to the gym! We were amazed by how well positioned this hotel is for the price- just 5-10 mins walk from the ponte vecchio, lots of restaurants nearby and also an easy walk to the Cathedral, Uffizi, and gardens. Really very hard to fault this. Thank you again!

Room Tip: A room facing the inner courtyard will be away from street noise- ours (Angelica) was v. quiet.

The Hotel a very very small boutique hotel. just across the river from the Main tourist/shopping area of Florence so its away from the hustle bustle but everything is just a short 5-10 min walk away.

The hotel is a converted mansion/townhouse so its unlike the usual hotels. There are lots of sitting rooms filled with antiques etc.

The Rooms are HUGE. My rooms (Top Suite) was on the 1st floor and was atleast 2000 sq feet in size. It consisted on a large living room and a equally large Bedroom.

Please keep in mind that this is not a regular hotel. Its more like living at some really rich persons house and not a hotel. There are some quirks but nothing serious.

The breakfast was served in a salon on the 2nd floor. and it was very elaborate. Apart from the usual continental spread they had a Hot menu to order from plus they had champagne.

And since the hotel has only 12 rooms the service is extremely personalized. The Front desk staff (who doubled as concierge) were extremely helpful and gave us great advice on food, shopping & sightseeing.

We had booked the hotel on a whim since the rates for the suite were similar to what the other hotels were charging for their superior/deluxe rooms. We absolutely loved huge rooms which was a welcome change after the cramped rooms usually found in europe.

Will highly recommend the place

Room Tip: The Top Suites are on the higher floors. While regular suits are on the ground floor. There is no vi...

This was like living in a Palace.
The rooms were large and had a palace feel, with all the comforts that you need.
It had a wonderful European feel.
Breakfast was in a ballroom with a luxurious feel.
So close to everything all walking distance.
Really loved this hotel and would not hesitate to return when in Florence

Room Tip: All the rooms were quiet as hotel is in a quiet area. The Francesca Suite was great and close to lo...

The Palazzo Magnani was the best Hotel in our European Vacation and one of the most unique Hotels We have ever stayed in. The staff was very friendly and helpful, answered e-mail and on site questions promptly .After staying in the typical small hotel rooms in large European city's ,this was a treat, even joking that the room was "too big ".The location , even though across the river ,was perfect for seeing the sites .Although I knew ther were other guests, it felt like we had the whole palace to ourselves. The breakfast room and food and service was also top notch. Our only complaint was that we didn't stay longer.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in the Unica Suite: a suite of lovely 18th century frescoes and our own private terrace. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The free breakfast was great and in a beautiful room with seventeenth and eighteenth century antiques on display. This was a special type of luxury experience: we truly felt as though we were the guests of elegant yet somewhat eclectic aristocrats. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel also has a terrace with incredible views of the city and provides blankets so you can enjoy it even in the winter months! Additionally, the location in the Oltrarno is great: still very close to all the sites across the river, but far enough to feel away from the tourist traps by the Duomo. There are many fantastic restaurants and shops in the area that locals enjoy. I would highly recommend the Palazzo!!

We can’t agree more: Oltrarno is a very special area of town…. Inside the city walls in the old section of Florence but off the tourist routes so that you can have the best of both, quiet and charm but within walking distance to all our beauties! We are happy that your stay with us was a success and look forward to welcoming you back for your 1st – 2nd – all your anniversaries! CIAO!

We stayed for just one night in an upgraded suite that was jaw-droppingly beautiful - antiques, high, high ceilings, huge bathroom. Just awesome. The staff was also very friendly and informative. It is in walking distance to great restaurants and highlights of Florence. HIghly recommend this grand and amazing palace.

I was looking forward to staying here for a long time after looking at pictures and reading other traveler's reviews. I chose the hotel because of its history, location, and price. We stayed for four nights, and paid for the Surprise Suite (150 euros/nt).

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, and the staff had our room ready to go. We were shown the Vittoria Suite which was on the first floor. I had initial concerns about privacy and noise, but they were quickly dispelled on the first night.

We loved everything about our room and the hotel. I imagine that all of their suites were of similar size, but we really liked the size and layout of our suite. We had a separate sitting area with sofa, TV, and CD player. I liked the music CDs that were provided and quickly popped in an Italian one to get us in the mood. Outside our room, there was a Nespresso machine which we also utilized a couple of times a day. It was great not having to ask a staff member to prepare one for us.

Breakfast was served in an elegant room that combined both self-service and made-to-order egg dishes.

The terrace was an excellent place to get a view of the city without having to pay for it. Because it was November, the terrace was practically empty each time we were up there. We had the place to ourselves, and we just soaked in the beautiful views.

One of the best hotels I've stayed at for more than 2 nights. Highly recommend.

Buongiorno! If you’ve read the other reviews you will know that I’m a big fan of our rooftop terrace, it’s cold in winter but being covered, I still find the time to go up….. As said before, even after all these years, it amazes me: the view is overwhelming and being Florence one of the most beautiful cities in the whole wide world, our view must be one of the prettiest views ever! Grazie mille for your kind words and we look forward to having you back in the near future! Until then, ARRIVEDERCI!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Palazzo Magnani Feroni is an historical home that for over five hundred years has been at the centre of Florence's aristocratic life: one of the oldest dwellings in the San Frediano neighbourhood, it has stood as an important symbol of the city's history and its artistic value. The class of this elegant renaissance palace, evident upon entering, finds its maximum expression in the sumptuous suites and the luxurious hospitality quarters, furnished with candelabra, statues, paintings and frescoes form the '500. Each suite reflects the refinement of the Renaissance style, with the subtle combination of comfort and modern technology and decorated with tasteful antique furnishings and materials originating from the owners' ancestors' antique collection. Spanning between 80- and 120-square meters (860- and 1300- square feet) in size, the 13 suites each comprise a large living room, bedroom(s) and master bathroom(s). Each includes all amenities expected of a five-star luxury hotel, including stereo, satellite television in both the living room and bedroom, internet port and self-regulating air conditioning units. An architectural jewel of the 16th century, the Palazzo Magnani Feroni belongs to the National Register of Historical Monuments of the State of Italy. Detail and ornamentation characterises the building throughout, surprising the wanderer with frescoes, vaulted ceilings and intricate wood-carvings. The Renaissance decor prevails in this palace of traditional Florentine lay-out. Breakfast, for instance, is served in a 160-square meter salon with hand-crafted wood ceilings illuminated by a large original Murano chandelier. In the winter evenings, this salon serves as an intimate, candle-lit Bar, accessible to Palazzo guests and their friends only. The same rules are applicable to the adjoining Billiard Room, as well as to the In-House Gym, so as to assure the guests with absolute privacy. The beautiful Roof-Top Terrace offers a breathtaking view of the city and houses the Palazzo Bar as soon as the temperature permits. Providing 24-hour Reception and Service, the Palazzo Magnani Feroni is run by a staff dedicated to meet your every need with efficiency and discretion, both prior, during and following your stay. Services include reservations to exclusive restaurants, recommendations of typical local eateries and trattorias, coordination of privileged entrance to the city's museums, airport / train station pick-up, private shopping tours, visits to the Ferrari Museum and private, chauffeured excursions to the beautiful Chianti valley. Also, Palazzo guests choose from a selection of CDs, DVD films and soap fragrances for their suite, as well as benefit from private Guides to shopping and restaurants off the beaten path, personally written by the owners of the Palazzo for an "insider's view" of Florence. ... more   less
