“Like a Mini Pitti Palace, Great Place to stay in Florence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Stayed for 3 nights in a great suite. Excellent free breakfast. Great bathroom products, and custom soap. Could use new mattresses, and a blind or curtain on the bathroom door. Nice staff. Parking expensive, but told of price in advance. Perfect ambiance for Florence.

We visited in November for two nights and found the Palazzo Magnani Feroni to be excellent in terms of location, facilities and quality of service. The breakfast was superb with a very wide choice of delicious food - no lunch needed! The history of the house is interesting; it has been owned by the current family for over 200 years and has been well preserved so that you do feel that you are indeed staying in an old palace, but with 21st century comforts.

Well we were very lucky with this hotel and got a fantastic deal price wise so for us it was great value for money. The hotel is very renaissance - frescoes on the walls of our bedroom. The lift was amazing - the third oldest in Florence we were told - and the roof terrace was great if cold but that's November for you. There are however only 12 rooms so it didn't feel like it had much life and i felt like whispering every time i went through the lobby. In terms of the room it was large with large and comfortable bed and a sofa and chair. The TV etc were great, very modern and all fine. I would have been disappointed with the bathroom if we had paid more, the shower was small and flooded all the time. The location is great and I am so pleased we went the other side of the arno - it is a different and much better world. you are 10 mins from the Uffizi 15 mins from the station, 5 mins from the ponte vecchi

My mom and I stayed here for 3 days about a week about. We are spoiled and hard to please but we liked it! I really enjoyed the old time elevator which had a little sofa in it. The whole place had a nice ambiance. Our two room suite had beautiful ceilings and was nicely decorated. The location was perfect for me. It was on the other side of the Arno from the duomo and the major tourist attractions which enables guests with cars to get there without too much trouble but its only a 5-10 minute walk from everything. It's also nice, at the end of the day, to be away from the hustle bustle. I liked that guests had to be buzzed in. As women traveling alone, little things like this make us really happy and at ease. The breakfast was lovely. It's not just pastries. They'll make you an omelette if all that bread scares your thighs. Service was friendly and attentive. Whenever we had questions- they were kindly answered. Some high end hotels are skilled at making guests feel unwanted but the reception and staff were very warm here- another huge plus in my opinion. I really loved this place. My mom called it the mini piti palace which I think was fitting. They had nice bathroom products - Bvlgari (my fav!)- which smells amazing but considering we were two chicks with tons of hair we could have used some more conditioner. Thankfully we pack our own. While on the topic of hair I must mention our hairbrush was accidentally taken by the staff. I don't know if it was used in a voodoo ritual or was found in the dumpster but after asking the front desk about it (oddest question ever asked. Did you steal our hairbrush by accident or are we crazy??) it was returned. This led to many jokes throughout our trip and was a source of amusement. What happened? We don't really want to know. :) another oddity is the bathroom. In Beatrice, the bathroom doors were glass and as my mom was watching TV she could see me in shower. I'm sure she's seen enough of my buns for one lifetime. Maybe a curtain or frosting the glass would be beneficial? My only genuine gripe is the cost of parking. 50€/night is a tad scandalous. For the price paid, perhaps they could cap it at a much more reasonable 25€. I'm sure I'll be back in Florence soon and I would pick to stay here again. It was a nice and easy experience. Sure the place has a few minor faults but overall it's amazing. I got to stay in a palace in Florence for a few nights. I think that's magical. :)

We enjoyed our third stay at the Palazzo, just as much as the first two. Have already booked another stay for this coming April. Service is impeccable, the location can't be beat, wonderful breakfast. You won't be disappointed!

We stayed here in October for 3 nights. Huge lounge and separate bedroom and bathroom. Lovely traditional building. Coffee and snacks everywhere for guests. Nice, helpful staff. Only disappoitment was that the terrace was closed. highly recommend. 10 mins walk from Dumo. 5 mins from Ponte Vechio.

Me and my husband stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon.

We decided to choose the “smallest” suite the junior suite which is where all of the walls are painted.

On arrival at the hotel the reception staff were very polite and we were given a short guided tour of the hotel. We were shown to our room, which took our breathe away. Although you see the photographs of the walls the paintings were just so mesmerising.

The more time you spend in a hotel room, the more you pick up on the negatives so here were the bad points:
Some parts of the paintings on the wall had worn/chipped away
The bathroom needed updating
Outdoor seating could have been more comfortable.

Other than the 3 points above I haven’t a bad word to say. The room was as described, the breakfast was of a standard, the staff were always polite and very helpful.

If I was to visit Florence again I would definitely come back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Palazzo Magnani Feroni is an historical home that for over five hundred years has been at the centre of Florence's aristocratic life: one of the oldest dwellings in the San Frediano neighbourhood, it has stood as an important symbol of the city's history and its artistic value. The class of this elegant renaissance palace, evident upon entering, finds its maximum expression in the sumptuous suites and the luxurious hospitality quarters, furnished with candelabra, statues, paintings and frescoes form the '500. Each suite reflects the refinement of the Renaissance style, with the subtle combination of comfort and modern technology and decorated with tasteful antique furnishings and materials originating from the owners' ancestors' antique collection. Spanning between 80- and 120-square meters (860- and 1300- square feet) in size, the 13 suites each comprise a large living room, bedroom(s) and master bathroom(s). Each includes all amenities expected of a five-star luxury hotel, including stereo, satellite television in both the living room and bedroom, internet port and self-regulating air conditioning units. An architectural jewel of the 16th century, the Palazzo Magnani Feroni belongs to the National Register of Historical Monuments of the State of Italy. Detail and ornamentation characterises the building throughout, surprising the wanderer with frescoes, vaulted ceilings and intricate wood-carvings. The Renaissance decor prevails in this palace of traditional Florentine lay-out. Breakfast, for instance, is served in a 160-square meter salon with hand-crafted wood ceilings illuminated by a large original Murano chandelier. In the winter evenings, this salon serves as an intimate, candle-lit Bar, accessible to Palazzo guests and their friends only. The same rules are applicable to the adjoining Billiard Room, as well as to the In-House Gym, so as to assure the guests with absolute privacy. The beautiful Roof-Top Terrace offers a breathtaking view of the city and houses the Palazzo Bar as soon as the temperature permits. Providing 24-hour Reception and Service, the Palazzo Magnani Feroni is run by a staff dedicated to meet your every need with efficiency and discretion, both prior, during and following your stay. Services include reservations to exclusive restaurants, recommendations of typical local eateries and trattorias, coordination of privileged entrance to the city's museums, airport / train station pick-up, private shopping tours, visits to the Ferrari Museum and private, chauffeured excursions to the beautiful Chianti valley. Also, Palazzo guests choose from a selection of CDs, DVD films and soap fragrances for their suite, as well as benefit from private Guides to shopping and restaurants off the beaten path, personally written by the owners of the Palazzo for an "insider's view" of Florence. ... more   less
