“Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

We had a large room with a beautiful fresco on the ceiling. It is exactly the place I always wanted to stay in an Italian city. The location and the staff were perfect. They also have an amazing Bistro right in the place. We had a fantastic meal there.

We typically stay at small boutique hotels while in Europe so when we asked our travel agent (Omnibus Tours, Salt Lake City) to book us a hotel in Firenza, she chose Il Guelfo Bianco. We were not disappointed. The room was large by European standards and the shower was excellent. Breakfast was more than adequate. The staff was helpful and courteous. And, the location ... what can you say? We were able to get anywhere we wanted by foot. Highly recommended!

The hotel is very well located and access by car was easy. We stayed in exceptionally beautiful room for 4. We make use of the available multicharger in the room. Air con works well. We got a nice surprise with 4 welcome drinks. The staff was friendly and very helpful for recommendations.

Excellent location, breakfast included, clean & quaint rooms, front desk reception very helpful and speak various languages.....we left our cell phone in the room when we checked out and they overnighted it to Rome for us! This was all done via email and they were very accommodating. All the staff was helpful and extremely friendly....they also booked our tour to see "David" so we didn't have to wait in line. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel!

We spent three nights at this clean and moderately sized hotel third week of August.
The hotel is not too far from the train station but with luggage, a taxi is a must. You can walk around and see the Duomo which is a treat. Shop and have gellato and sip amaritto. So the location is convenient.
The room is clean but no view and the bathroom is of decent size, attractive and with plenty of hot water. They are finicky about the room key vis a vis the plastic card that activates the electricity in the room, that being the most irritating feature in some of the hotels in Italy.
Breakfast is just great with plenty of jams, jellies, fruits, hot hot coffee and fabulous juices and breads.
There is a courtyard that is interesting to sit at if you are traveling with several people.
Overall I did like the convenient location of this hotel.
Antonella, Julia and Francesco were very helpful.

Dear Randhir111,

thanks very much for yoru review. We are happy you like our hotel and you enjoyed your stay with us.
Regading your comment it seems you didn't appreciate the card to activate the electricity. This is a system to avoid to waste energy. If a customer leaves the lights on in the room when he/she is leaving using this card the power goes off automatically after one minute. You can plug the card when you are in and unplug when you go out. Now in every room there is a multicharger which is working also when you are out so when you do not use the card. So if you need to charge a computer or a phone the multi charger is still working even when you are out. Same system for air condition or heating: we have an electronic system so during the summer if the temperature goes up to 25 degree air condition starts immediately (even without the plastic card); during the winter if temperature goes down to 18 degrees the heating starts immediately even without that card . Believe me it's a clever system to save energy.
I really hope to welcome you here again whenever you decide to visit Florence again. Giulia and Francesco says hello to you, too.
Best regards.
Antonella Rocchini.

It can be difficult to find a quad room for families in Europe. I found this hotel listed in a DK book called Italy for Families and found the book to be valuable and the recommendations to be spot on. This was the best possible experience for our family in Firenze. Close to train station and close to sites and points of interest. We walked and walked and walked and it all was right there in the beautiful city of Florence.
Location, comfort, non-stuffy elegance, top-notch food, excellent family room, value, friendly happy personnel...gratzie

Our 4-person family shared a large room for 3 nights at Il Guelfo Bianco this August. It was an outstanding location - walking distance to everything. The desk and café staff were very welcoming, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about restaurants and other amenities in Florence. Check-in and check-out were fast and easy. The price was more than reasonable, with an extensive, fresh, plentiful breakfast bar that was included in the price. Our room and bathroom were roomy, clean and very pretty. The only thing was that we were on the ground level, street-side and had to close the windows at night because of noise. Luckily the air conditioner worked very well in hot summer Florence. If we had stayed longer we would have tried the restaurant for more than just breakfast - it looked delicious, especially for vegetarians. I would return to Il Guelfo Bianco in a heartbeat.
