“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

We were given a recommendation from a friend to stay at Il Guelfo Bianco, and we are so glad we listened. It is in a great location- on a quiet street but about a 4 minute walk to the Duomo. When you go down the road the opposite way of the Duomo, there is an incredible restaurant recommended by the hotel staff that has an incredible Bistecca Florentina. They don't speak much English there, but it was great to dine with the locals.

The staff at Il Guelfo was mostly very helpful. We enjoyed our welcome drink and appetizer plate on our first night. It's a nice touch when you're just starting to settle in. The room was great and cleaned impeccably every morning. The breakfast was certainly plentiful.

When you're in possibly one of the most beautiful cities in the world, please stay at this hotel. You won't regret it.

This is a jewel of a hotel in a perfect location near the Duomo and the Market. Our room was large (by European standards) and quiet as it faced a lovely interior courtyard. It's furnished with authentic antiques, the ceiling in our room was wooden with small golden roses which really highlighted the fact that it was an historic villa.. We had a king bed, large armoire, loveseat, desk and mini bar. Breakfast was lavish with fresh fruit, meats, yogourt, served by a friendly, accommodating staff. The front desk was equally helpful and was happy to make dinner reservations for us, assist with obtaining a cab when we left and by providing directions to all the places we visited. If this is in your price range, look no further and enjoy a wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: I think we were in # 111.

My wife and I visited Florence for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel. Ideally located with a five minute walk to the Duomo.
Very pleasant room and wonderful breakfasts with great service. Good value.
My only slight beef concerns the WiFi. This is free but you need a separate password for each device and they don't remember the password,

Room Tip: Choose a room looking over the patio not the street

I just returned from what had to be the most wonderful experience of my life. We stayed at the hotel because of its super convenient location to the Duomo, Accademie and the Market. After just staying here one night, i soon realized Il Guelfo was going to be so much more. While on our vacation my wife fell and unfortunately broke her leg. The staff at the hotel bent over backwards offering suggestions and advice in order to facilitate my every need. BESIDES a lovely clean room and an exquisite breakfast, there was a feeling in the hotel that was warm and hospitable....it was the front desk staff. The extremely knowledgeable Daniele. Guilia, Antonella and a very sweet quiet lady at night made us feel important and comfortable. They booked museums, got transportation for us, and always had advice and most important a HUGE smile for us. We will always rememember Il Guelfo Bianco as a fabulous place to stay.

Room Tip: Room 118 like being in the Medici Palace for a sleepover

We spent 5 nights at this hotel the end of October with another couple and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel is a charming and part of the fun of staying there is that it has a wonderful, old world feel to it. There are a lot of restaurants in the area and shopping is close by and most importantly, the David, the Duomo and the Uffisi are all close by as well. The staff was wonderful, there were several very cozy places and patios to sit and have a glass of wine, and the prices were right for such a centrally located hotel. It is but a few minutes to the train station. We had a "we're home" feeling while we were there and will certainly make it "home" the next time we are in Florence.

I stayed here for one night in October with a group of friends and we wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is conveniently located just steps away from the Duomo, Accademia, shopping and restaurants. The rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques and period pieces and most are very spacious and all are affordably priced! The upper floor has a nice view of the Duomo and campanile. The staff was very helpful to us throughout our stay. One of our party had had her passport, credit cards and cash stolen on the train from Pisa and the hotel staff helped us contact the US Embassy and took calls from her husband back in the states for her. They were a great help in a time of crisis! The breakfast had many choices of food to suit our varying tastes and cappuccino to order! Would recommend this hotel to anyone! Loved it!

Room Tip: Request upper rooms for the view or the superior and deluxe rooms for more space!
