We spent three nights here in November. You can see the hotel from the front of the train station, which was great since we only had a little luggage. Our room had high ceilings and a decent bathroom. Although we were told we were given a quiet room, there was noise from the others buildings. Perhaps this was because it was a weekend, but we slept with earplugs (we are light sleepers). Breakfast was okay. The hotel is next to a travel agency, which is great if you need to book a tour. The first night, we did notice a slight sewer smell. I guess this could be a problem if it was warm and the windows were open, but since it was very cold we had everything closed. Florence is full of people out walking, and we felt like we were able to travel by foot everywhere in the city from this hotel.

We had a very good experience here Nov. 4 - 9. Recommended by friends in hometown who had stayed in Spring 2004. Clean, comfortable beds, great bathroom, and noise-proofed windows. Staff could not have been more fun, friendly and helpful. Breakfast room is lovely, filled with morning sunshine, and very ably serviced by sweet, quiet Maria. Nicely renovated and decorated, more than we'd expected at such a reasonable price. Loved cheap interenet access in hotel.
Best feature is proximity to Santa Maria Novella square (and beautiful church), lots of restaurants and caffe's, plus steps from local and regional bus depot, and main train station. Could not have been more convenient for anyone traveling on their own rather than on a group tour. Plus, not more than ten minutes to Duomo, and of course, stopping by at San Lorenzo open-air market.
Way to go, Boccaccio!

We stayed at the Hotel Boccaccio in Florence for 2 nights and the location was very good - not far from the Duomo. The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean. A good experience.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP!
We stayed at the Boccaccio Hotel in Nov 2004 for 2 long nights. I couldn't wait to get on this website and share my feelings since our experience was so bad. The hotel is in a shady part of town, pretty far from main attractions and the street its on is really dirty...but so is most of the city. I think I would have liked florence better if I could've gotten some sleep while there! The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the sheets were like paper and were very old. There is a 13 inch TV on a desk in the room. It is really dark too. The room had an awful smeel, so bad, they have to give you an air freshener so you can breath! Please don't try to save money by staying here...spend a little more and stay at a 4 star while in Europe b/c it can ruin your trip if you can't sleep while there.
PS I have had a rash since I stayed there, and it still hasn't gone away...THIS PLACE IS NASTY!
