“great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

In my recent trip to Florence I started my European trip with a 2 day stay at this wonderful hotel which was centrally located in Florence, the rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was a nice addition. The hotel's owner has a wonderful restaurant down the corner where the food and lemon cello was quite enjoyable. On my last day I was supposed to stay at Hotel Alba Palace but they canceled by room reservation and it was Hotel Boccaccio that was able to accommodate us at the very last minute. The room was extremely spacious for two guests and their were so helpful with restaurant referrals, sites, and transport back to the airport. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Florence.

Very nice small hotel. Close rail station and few blocks from Duome etc. Difficult to get to by car but have associated parking around corner. Traffic heavy and watch for zona traffico limitato signs. Would use again.

This is a simple but excellent hotel in the heart of Florence, 10 minute walk from the river and all the attractions a tourist would want to see, also ideal for business traveller needing a central location. When you step off the train your practically looking at the hotel down the street.

I’ve stayed here 4 times in the recent years and it is always consistent. It isn’t grand or oppulent but likewise it isnt basic. I find it very good value for money.

Pleasant staff and always clean – I’ve seen inside the single rooms and they are too small but the doubles are perfectly appointed.

As it has no restaurant you are forced to eat out every night but you’ll be in luck…your in Florence, pick a restaurant! The owners have a restaurant along the street and whilst I’ve never been it does receive excellent reviews.

Excellent location, just around the corner from the train station. Nice breakfast buffet in a lovely setting. Front desk staff very freindly and welcoming. Helped to get us into the Accademia the same day we arrived. Room was a litle small for three people, but comfortable. No free wifi.

Nice location - close to train station and bus stop for airport buses. But I found it too expensive for an average hotel. By the way, no heating there, so if you go in winter or fall be ready to sleep in clothes.

As you get off the coach from Pisa airport, the hotel is in view at the end of the road about 50m away. So convenient especially as it's only about 10 - 15 ins walk to the city centre. Smallish room, large bed, good bathroom, all very clean. Breakfast as good as you get in Italy: rolls, toast, croisssants, ham, cheese, yoghurt, fruit salad. juice, tea, coffee etc
Even though our room was on the front (lots of traffic) the double glazing and shutters meant we heard nothing at all. Aircon is there for hot weather - not needed in October.
Staff very welcoming and helpful. Good value for money. Lots of good little restaurants nearby and 12% discount off a very good one offered by hotel.

Room Tip: A room on the back might be quieter in summer if you don't like aircon and need the windows open...

Within 5 min walk from Florence's Santa Maria Novella railways station. Very handy when you're making trips to other nearby places in Tuscany. Airport busses runs from the railway station too. The main tourist attraction is a short walk away. A 15min slow & casual stroll would bring you to be Duomo.

Room is a comfortable size. Ours wasn't facing the road, so sleep was very peaceful and comfy. Comes with air conditioning too which is a huge plus point during summer.

Staff were generally friendly and helpful. Do ask them for restaurant recommendations. There is one nearby that the hotel owns which serves very good Tuscany fair at very reasonable price. One particular staff was however exceptional. Bald guy, can't remember his name. We had a problem with our air conditioning and he promptly fixed it and we never had any problems thereafter.

Breakfast was a simple but generous continental buffet spread. Nothing spectacular but it's nice to have.

Wifi is available for a fee for €10 for 24 hours access which you can log in and our. I used that for my 4 days there. Only gripe is reception is almost non-existent from the room. You have to sit around the lobby area for better access.

Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a place to stay at Florence. For us, the biggest plus point was the convenient access to the railway station which gives you easy access to other parts outside Florence.
