I stayed at the Curtatone for four nights in late September 2004. Although Florence wasn't the highlight of our trip to Italy (I was amazed by the beauty of southern Italy), I enjoyed the Curtatone far more than other hotels, for the combinaton of the room, service, and location.
The room was a good size, clean and tastefully furnished, with a clean, modern bathroom. We had a small balcony overlooking the busy streets. With motorbikes constantly zooming by, of course there was some noise, but that's expected from any urban Italian location. The staff was pleasant and helpful, assisting us with finding a group wine tasting tour in the countryside. The breakfasts were good, with plenty of options. The hotel is very close to the Arno, which is nice for an evening stroll, or to walk along to the Ponte Vecchio. We found Florence to be a good walking city, but we were not there at the height of the summer heat, and never needed to take the bus or a taxi. Overall, the Curtatone provided an excellent, comfortable base from which to explore Florence, and was a good value. I would stay there again.
