“Three sisters in Florence- a poor choice of hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2014

We were so cross and upset. The hotel location is good but that's the best thing about it. We were given a room that was dreadful - dirty & damaged carpet, electrics coming put of the wall, an old damaged 1/2 bath/shower, peeling & torn wallpaper, no A/C and more. Not worthy of even one star accommodation! When we complained we were given a better (renovated) room but it left a dreadful taste in our mouths that the hotel had the cheek to give such accommodation when there were better rooms available at the same price. When we complained they did not defend the quality of the room. They couldn't! We had taken photos!

We were mid-way through our trip in Italy, and this hotel was the worst. Unfortunately, the place we stayed in Rome made this place look pleasant. That said, the hotel looks run-down. The A/C did not work (or was non existent). The internet did not work but since everybody was so close, I was able to find an open signal to latch onto. There was only one plug and my adapter did not fit (second time this happened.) Outlets and switches were exposed. Floor is scratched. Door hinge broke. Room smells. Street noise is loud. We had to turn in the room key every time we left. Had to leave before breakfast in the morning. The staff was not willing to give us a bag breakfast. The only positive thing I will say is that it is central to everything we visited.

Room Tip: Read reviews before booking. If you find common complaints, they are likely true and not just a mal...

The staff here is fabulous! Very helpful and right on top of repairs when requested.
The breakfast is superb and hotel very clean.
All wallpaper should be removed and all carpet as well. They are both very stained and things feel dirty as a result.
We arrived on a very hot day and were relieved to find the room nice and cool. The air Conditioning worked very well.

Room Tip: centrally located, air conditioning, private bath

Breakfast is pretty fair and it is only a short walk from the SMN train station. Those are the good parts.

The desk staff is largely incompetent and indifferent. The hotel wifi is slow and too weak to be accessed except in a few spots when it functions at all.

I was there a week. The first two days the temperature of the hot water in my shower was only slightly above body temperature. After that it would have scalded the bristles off a wild boar. The taps for the bathtub did not work. The bathroom sink was cracked.

The neighborhood is noisy and smells of sewage. That ambience is further enhanced by men (and a few women) sitting on the sidewalks drinking from large bottles of beer at most hours. Occasional loud arguments in a variety of languages add immeasurably to the local color.

I would never recommend this place to anyone unless I had a serious grudge against them. In fact, the best recommendation that I can make about this ghastly travesty of a hotel is that it be demolished and that the site be bulldozed, plowed, and sown with salt.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel.

There were people working right next to my room so from 6 am they started to make really loud noises and We complained in the front desk and the guy started to put aggressive as well as the people who worked at the hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Basilea at the beginning of August. We were not impressed by the front desk. It took the lady several minutes to find our reservation on a piece of paper. (We ended up having to point to our name for her.)
The bed was actually two beds pushed together. The main reason for one star is that one of the beds was bowl shaped with the springs collapsed in the middle. The legs were also wobbly. We could not use the bed for sleep.
The bathroom was tiny and had a smell. The toilet did not work well. The air conditioning only seemed to be turned on at night. The walls were thin.
The staff at the front desk really only had one pleasant person there. There other two we encountered were rude and uncaring.
The hotel is located close to the train station and main attractions.
