“I Won't Stay Anywhere Else in Firenze”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

I've just returned from a four-night stay at the Porta Rossa in Florence. It was wonderful! Like others who have reviewed the property I arrived a little sooner than the official check in time (35 minutes) and instead of making me wait, the front desk graciously offered me an upgraded room that was available. My room was a gorgeous and quiet respite from all of my sight seeing. I looked forward to coming back each evening. One night I hosted a couple of friends for a pre-dinner drink. The front desk was kind enough to bring us wine glasses so that we could fully enjoy our chianti. I found the location itself perfect. In a few minutes I could walk to the Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vechhio, The Pitti Palace, Santa Croce...the list goes on an on.

I mean it when I say that when I return to Florence, the Porta Rossa is where I will stay.

Room Tip: I was in room 222 and was very pleased with it!

We arrived at NH Porta Rossa at midday on a weekday and not only were we checked in two hours early, but we were offered a double upgrade (we booked a superior room and were given a junior suite). The suite was lovely- a large bedroom with King-sized bed, spacious, modern bathroom and a separate lounge room. The hotel is in a convenient, yet quiet location- close to Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi and shopping. All staff were extremely helpful and the buffet breakfast was amazing! We will definitely stay at NH Porta Rossa again.

Large, elegant mix of modern and classic in guest rooms. The best location for most of the popular sites. Courteous and helpful staff. I confess that one of the many reasons we return to this hotel is the amazing buffet breakfast!
The only negative is the modern bathroom which was divided into toilet cabinet and shower and sink room. It was cramped and down a few steps, but was extremely stylish! The poor design was probably a function of accomodating the remodeling of the building into hotel rooms. Once you get used to it, you may not mind it because of the many positives of this location and the larger room size.

one of the best hotels ı have stayed since a long time....
The location is superb... The hotel is walking distance to many attractions and restaurants and shopping activities. If you have a car you can always part at the nearby square and they take good care of the car. (26 EUR per day for car parking)
The room we stayed was a delux room on the second floor with the street view... Very spacious and very delightful! The bathroom was excellent! We have been upgraded from a superior room to a delux room without any extra costs and that was a great gesture from the hotel.
the breakfast was delicious! you could find everything from croissants to fresh fruit juice - from different types of cheese to othher pastry...
the hotel was very clean and the rooms have been visited by house keeping everyday...

the staff at the hotel (reception and concierge both together) is SUPERB! All the ladies helping at the reception are multi lingual and they have great recommendations about where to eat - how to get there etc.

If we ever go to Florence again we will definetely stay at NH Porta Rossa....

Loved the hotel. The most amazing hotel with perfect location and excellent customer service. We booked a regular room and were instantly upgraded to the Deluxe room. We have stayed at this hotel twice and each stay was equally amazing. Walking distance to all museum and attractions. Breakfast was exceptional. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Request a room on the upper floor facing the street.

Absolutely cannot recommend this hotel enough! Beautiful accommodation in a perfect location from which to explore Florence. The hotel is stylish and modern but has lost none of its character and charm. The furnishings and decor are elegant and classic but the original design and facilities have been renovated with due respect for the buildings impressive history. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, check in and out were smooth and relatively painless (however please bear in mind that the city tax of 4 euro/night/person is not included when you book but must be paid as you leave). The breakfast buffet was extensive and all freshly prepared. Room and facilities were extremely clean and even the standard double we stayed in had an in-built safe for your valuables, free of charge. The hotel is situated less than 10 mins walk from the train station, Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi, Duomo etc and many more of the classic attractions of the city. Despite its central location the room we had was beautifully quiet and a good size, lovely en-suite and comfy bed. If, like me, you spend hours reading reviews of countless hotels before booking anything, and ultimately become lost in a strangely confusing world of star ratings and mixed opinions, please be reassured that the Porta Rossa is one of the gems. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Room Tip: Standard rooms only include queen-sized doubles so if you don't like sharing it may be worth con...

Loved our stay in Firenze, and we couldn't have been happier with the location and amenities of this hotel. It's a former palazzo, and many of the architectural details have been maintained. Our room featured a lovely modernist canopy bed and chandelier, with massive (2 story?) arched windows with heavy wooden shutters. I loved climbing the steps to open them to the street sounds each morning. The bathroom was great--super shower. Lobby areas very nice, and super bfast. Wireless in room was an extra plus for us at the end of our trip.
Apparently there is a Tower Room--their equivalent of the Presidential Suite--with a fantastic view of the city. Maybe next time...

Room Tip: we were in a junior suite for this trip. loved the luxury.
