“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

The location is excellent, being close to the Santa Maria Novella Railway station and within easy walking distance of the main attractions in Florence.
Our room was simply furnished but large and comfortable and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was a tad on the small size but again, very clean and perfectly useable.
The breakfast was plentiful, and the waiting staff kept it well stocked with a good selection of continental breakfast fare.
The staff were so friendly, courteous and helpful. The young waiter in the breakfast room greeted us every morning with a lovely smile and remembered our coffee requirements - which I thought was very nice.
All in all, for a three star hotel - very good indeed. I would recommend and would definitely stay there again if I am lucky enough to return to Firenze!

Probably my least favorite hotel on our Italy trip, the Corona D'Italia gave us an "icky" vibe. Although on the surface very neat, the bedspread seemed old and kind of funky, not in a good way. The bathroom was very clean, but flooded easily. The hotel was not easy to find as it is on a road that changes names about halfway through. Overall, did not love it.

This hotel is situated close to the Duomo and within easy walking distance of most of the places in guide books. The breakfast is basically Continental with a few additions e.g. Frittata. Rooms are very clean and staff are friendly and helpful.

Located near the Santa Maria Novella station in the heart of the city’s San Lorenzo district, the Hotel Corona was more than a pleasant surprise. The building itself, made of stone, gives the illusion of being stately and historic on the inside. I found it, however, to be contemporary enough for the modern traveler while acknowledging in subtle ways its presence in the heart of renaissance Florence. The staff is friendly and fluent in a number of languages; the public spaces are clean; the rooms are immaculate and spacious; the mattresses comfortable; and the bathrooms are huge, tiled in a beautiful shade of aqua marine, and featuring both a large tub and a shower stall. I was impressed with the price of my room which was far below what I would have expected to pay. Within walking distance is the Statue of David, Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, San Lorenzo Church and the Santa Maria Novella Basilica.

Room was clean but a bit small although the bathroom was of a decent size. Noise level for the room was good. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was average. The main advantage for the hotel is its accessibility by vehicle although the street is very busy!! It is a short walk to the Duomo and the other main attractions. Also the hotel is located very close to the train station. Good value for the location

Cannot praise this hotel enough.
The room was on the fifth floor and was as quiet as the grave. The bedding was changed daily and the cleanliness of the room exceptional.
The staff were superb and all spoke English. Special thanks to the waiters at breakfast who went out of their way to make this an enjoyable experience. The assortment of buffet produce was excellent with something for all nationalities. Although there was one miserable old fart who complained that the grapes were not seedless????.
The reception staff were only too keen to help with any enquiry and one even resembled Inspector Montalban. Location is excellent for the tourist being only ten minutes stroll for the Duomo and is surrounded with excellent restaurants. Should we ever return to Firenze this hotel will certainly be our first choice.

A plain but good sized room for a single traveller with all that I needed. The room over-looked the busy street but double glazed windows keep out most of the noise that was not a problem anyway. It is very easy walking distance from both the centre of the city and the station, just round the corner from San Lorenzo - both church and market. All the staff I met are very pleasant, smiling and helpful.
The breakfast was lovely, really fresh fruit, nicely prepared [kiwi and strawberries] and plenty of choice for a vegetarian to ring the changes and eat well.
This was part of a Riviera tour but I would consider going there alone.

Room Tip: I rather like looking out at the busy street but there is some noise at the front.
