Our first night we would have rated the hotel a 4 star only because the room we had was small with 2 single beds in a very narrow room. It had a lovely terrace, but it is November and we would not use. The room would have been great for a family with children as it had an adjoining room for the adults. The next day they moved us to a wonderful room with a large bed. A very Lovely room. The rooms are spotless, newly renovated. The staff here is superb. Extremely helpful and so nice. Gave us directions to see the city, recommended restaurants that were fabulous, had pizza delivered to our room on our last night as we were very tired and we needed some relaxing time with our feet up. They made us feel very welcome and bent over backwards to assist us with anything we needed, the true sign of a 5 star hotel.

Breakfast was great. Lots of choices of pastry, rolls, eggs, yogurt, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit and wonderful coffee. One great thing they did extra was for 5 euro you could purchase a bag lunch of several sandwiches and water to take with you on your day out which feed my husband and myself. What a great way to enjoy Florence sitting by the statue of David in the Piazza del Signoria people watching having lunch.

The hotel is very close to everything. Just a few minute walk to the Duomo, Uffizi gallery and the Accademia. It is about a 15 minute walk from the train station. We would highly recommend this hotel to our friends and family, great place to stay.

We stayed here for three nights in October and I would reiterate jillbeebee's review title comment of "5 star facilities in a 3 star hotel". The hotel has been totally refurbished relatively recently in a very tasteful manner and it was a real pleasure to stay there. Treat the staff with respect and you will find them extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

It was a dark and stormy night (no kidding), and our arrival in Florence had been delayed for 12 hours. We were bedraggled and cold and, then, we were greeted by Mauro! who made us feel so so welcome. Before we asked, he asked us whether we wanted him to make reservations for us in a neighborhood restaurant that he knew would be very crowded - the food was great, inexpensive and a short walk away. We jumped on the chance and had one of our best meals of the whole trip. What a relief. As you have read from others, the hotel was perfect for our needs - comfortable bed, excellent shower, and HUGE bathtub. My husband thought the reading lights were too dim, and he wanted another shelf for his toiletries. I'm a little claustrophobic so used the stairs rather than the small elevator. It was a great way to walk off our fabulous dinner. The following morning Lorenzo created a very clear map of a great 2.5 hour walking tour of Florence that exactly fit out needs. Would stay here again in a minute.
