“A few days in Paradise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2009

This family run hotel was quite simply 'the best'! Literally 2 minutes walk from the railway station and in the heart of Florence, the location couldn't be beaten. My husband and I with our teenage sons relaxed and enjoyed the company of our friends in Florence, whle staying BB in one of the 'Apartment Suites' at the Minerva. The service was warm, personal and friendly but impressively professional - staff training is obviously a priority for this company. Our suite was exceptionally spatious with ensuite facilities for both our children and us, including a balcony onto the Piazza - quite stunning! Bedding was changed daily and the room thoroughly cleaned. All the other standard facilities were also available. We were totally spoilt and enjoyed every moment.

We had a lovely romantic weekend in Florence, a city that's worth seeing. The Minerva was very well-located, with nice, lofty rooms and very gentle and attentive staff. We enjoyed relaxing in our room just as much as strolling through the city. The breakfast buffet was so amazing we ate enough for the whole day ! ^^ The hotel's own restaurant also delighted us with its refined cuisine. A really highly enjoyable place !

The Grand Minerva Hotel in Florence was wonderful, after a long day sightseeing it was great to come back to our hotel, sit by the pool, have a drink to relax & rehash the day, and just enjoy the view

Sought a central, well maintained hotel with a swimming pool and convenient to public transport. Had all of this in the G H Minerva. Excellent condition and very helpful staff. It would help if they could provide a stairlift for access from the 5th floor to the pool floor for those with some mobility problems. The Moroccan barman at the Pool Bar made one feel they were in their local bar.The room was on the small side of adequate but we only needed it for sleeping and preparing for the next outing.

We got back from a 3 night break in the Grand Hotel Miverna yesterday and cannot wait to go back!
The location is excellent, just a short walk from the train station and just a short distance from the beautiful Duomo (which you can see from the pool/roof terrace).
The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, as was our room (if you are fussy about your hair take a hairdryer, the only thing i could fault the hotel for!).
However i have to say the pool area and roof terrace were my favourite part. It was just perfect for a peaceful, lazy day around the pool, especially when it was so hot. Towels were provided so no need to take the ones from your room. The views were amazing, both day and night, and it was a lovely place to relax with a glass of wine in the evening.
Breakfast was great, lots of choice. Staff very friendly.
There is some construction work in the piazza outside which I'm sure will be beautiful when it's finished but it didn't affect our stay at all. In fact it's another reason to look forward to going again, to see the restoration complete.
If you do one tour while you're in Florence make it the Chianti Wine Tasting tour. The scenery is absolutely stunning. We booked it through Expedia just a few days before and it was probably the best £55 (each) we spent. The tour included a trip to a beautiful castle in Chianti where you try various wines along with cheese, salami, bruschetta and biscotti. Then you visit a quaint village with time to have a wander round or try some more wine! Then on to another pretty village where you dine with the rest of the tour group with more wine (all included in the price). When we next visit Florence we'll definately do the tour again and we will most definately be staying at the Grand Hotel Miverna.

This was out first time in Florence and this hotel was just brilliant. We stayed there for 7 nights. It was really easy to find, the staff were just lovely and the rooftop bar and pool area was excellent. We arrived on a Thursday in time for 'Gio Minerva' which essentially was a very fancy buffet, filled with canapes, pasta, breads and seafood-the oysters were a treat. It was unlimited for 15 euro per person including a drink! The drink could be anything-we had a bottle of wine. They only do this night in the summer months once a week. We ate some amazing food in Florence but this evening was our favorite-eating and drinking while watching the sunset behind the city and the hills.
Breakfast too was really good and the facilities(pool, free evening canapes, free internet) and services(maid service, lovely toilletries) were an added bonus.
Thanks Grand Hotel Minerva, we'll be back!
