“Great hotel, near to all that's great about Florence.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

A Wonderful weeks break in Florence. This hotel was perfect for getting to all the main sites and restaurants.they provided an Excellent breakfast and the rooms were clean and tidy. The main train station is only 5 minutes walk away and the Duomo is only 3 minutes. The staff are very friendly and we felt very welcome and relaxed. We would highly recommend it, we will definitely be going back, it was reasonably priced for a 4 star hotel.

Room Tip: Would recommend asking for a room with a view if it's important to you.

Amazing city great hotel! If you are going to Florence stay at this hotel as great location. Recommend trip to Siena on the bus and a visit to the balbo gardens is a must . I recommend using the small restaurants and bars as they have great great food at very reasonable prices, the coffee shop,GIlles in the cathedral does amazing cakes and coffee in beautiful surroundings at a price that was way to cheap!

Room Tip: Go for rooms on upper floors for amazing views and use the roof terrace in the evenings to watch the...

We booked to stay in this hotel in the middle of March 2014 for 3 nights. We arrived by hire car, but I would recommend that you use public transport instead as parking fees are really expensive. The hotel was amazing and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. We were escorted up to our room by the porter. What a lovely room!! It overlooked the roof tops of Florence and even the bell that was rung every morning at 7am was pretty special. The bed was really comfortable and I have not slept so well in a long time! We had breakfast each morning in a beautiful room that may have been a ball room in its former life. The food was good and I especially enjoyed the coffee. The only small detail I would recommend changing would be the hairdryer. All the hotels in Europe seem to use that silly little thing that is hooked up in the bathroom. We were close to everything and walked everywhere and met some amazing people. The food was great, the people are friendly, the weather was terrific and prices are very reasonable and if you go to the little family restaurants, you get amazing food and wine!! I will definitely be back and recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to see Florence or even to stay here and take the train to Rome. Thank you to all the staff that made our stay so terrific!!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in a superior room and we had no problems.

This hotel was a private home about 500 years ago, and they spared no expense in renovating it to reflect the old-world charm of Florence. Prices are very reasonable, and the rooms are quiet and climate controlled. Just remember, Europe is more energy conscious than North America, so their idea of air conditioning is slightly warmer than North Americas are accustomed to having. I was also very comfortable strolling the area around the hotel at all times ... day or night. My room was very clean and spacious. I was amazed at the bathroom. It was finished in granite and was bigger than my bedroom at home. It also had a small fridge so I could store water and juice. There is a breakfast buffet available each morning that can be booked with your room, or you can purchase a ticket at the front desk if you choose not to have breakfast there for your entire stay. Free secure WiFi is available in the lobby (the hotel will provide guests with a user ID and password). There is a rooftop lounge that you must not miss because the view of the Duomo cannot be beaten. I spent four evenings at the lounge drawing that view, and I've included a scan of that drawing.

Room Tip: Several rooms on each floor can only be reached by walking down a flight of 10 stairs. People with...

We absolutely loved this hotel. We got the bus from Pisa airport to Florence and ten minutes walk away in the centre of Florence we found this fabulous hotel. The entrance is grand with an abundance of Marble. A very welcoming reception and as we were handed our key the porter took our cases up to the room. We had asked for a 'room with a view' and they certainly delivered - room 502 was perfect with views over the Domes and rooftops. The bed was huge and the en suite perfectly adequate with a very strong shower. The only thing we would have liked was to have our own tea/coffee making facilities but that is the only fault I can find, oh and with window open, because of central location it was rather noisy. Breakfast was wonderful held in a resplendant room with Marble cornicing and a wonderful painted ceiling. Buffet style we had more than enough to set us up for a day's sightseeing. We had this hotel as part of an easyjet short break deal and found an absolute bargain - I have a feeling peak season this would be rather an expensive option. Altogether, staff were wonderful and food was perfect as was the room and location (within 10 minutes walk of practically every wonderful plaza in Florence!!)

Room Tip: We asked with a high floor room with a view - spot on!

I booked this hotel as a surprise first trip to Italy for my boyfriend's birthday as part of an offer that included flights in December 2013. After reading the previous reviews on here I was very nervous as for what to expect and hoped that the hotel would be nice enough to cope with for our 2 night stay.

Overall Impression
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised in that the main entrance and downstairs area of the hotel were well presented and clean with much character to it. We are in our early 20's and I was concerned from 'worn' reviews after we often stay abroad in 5* hotels, however I wouldn't have said it was badly run down. I was concerned with one of the lifts when going up to our room being a bit bouncy but other than that overall the hotel was lovely. There was a nice little downstairs side bar we sat in for a drink listening to the radio with traditional Italian songs. The staff were OK, not overly friendly but we didn't have much interaction.

Bedroom
Our room was spacious and the bathroom felt like it had been recently done with marble effect tiling throughout, it was clean with a good powerful shower. The hairdryer was also powerful and a safe was provided at no extra cost. Only note to make is there was only 2 places to be putting UK adapters in, one next to the mirror in the bathroom and then we had to remove the TV plug to allow to put a UK adapter in when charging phones/camera. The TV didn't have any English channels apart from one, however this didn't bother us as we were in and out of the hotel. It was a bit warm by morning but we just opened the window a little. There was no noise at night but a bit in the morning from the outside street but that's what you expect when staying in the center (I had taken ear plugs anyway).

Breakfast
Our Breakfast was included in our rate and we were disappointed after going the first morning that it was very continental which is simply not to our taste. I tried some scrambled eggs and bacon (the only option of warmed up food) on some bread and it was cold when I sat down to eat. My boyfriend is vegetarian and even he was unimpressed with no option for hot chocolate despite there being tea and coffee. This meant the following morning we went elsewhere for breakfast.

Location
The hotel is in an excellent place, as most reviews have said 5 minutes from the train station and from the Duomo. There is also a lovely restaurant if you come out of the hotel and turn left, walk up to the first cross roads and just behind you on your right with fairy lights outside. It is very modern inside with character, a great menu and delightful staff.

We would stay at the Boscolo Astoria again for a short city break in the winter.

This hotel is centrally located. It is around 5 mins walk from the main train station and also another 5 mins walk to Duomo. That means everything are within walking distance.

Breakfast is included in my room rate and the quality is not bad.

Room is a bit old (but the hotel itself has a long history which was converted from a castle) but it is still clean and tidy.

Wifi is only available at the lobby but not the room.
