“Classy hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

The hotel has a perfect location, walking distance to major attractions in Florence.

The hotel has the elegance and style of a classic hotel dated back to early 1900's...The service was very good, professional welcome at check-in. We were updated to a junior suite from a deluxe room(200 euros) which was a very nice surprise. Junior suite was big, comfortable and silent though no view as it looked at he backyard.

The hotel has a valet service and paid parking which was expensive, but considering the difficulty in parking in Florence it was ok for us.

Wi-fi was free at the hotel which was a big plus.

Breakfast room was located at the 5th floor with a nice view of Duomo. Breakfast was good and included in the price.

The hotel is classy but needs a facelift in general.

You can't go wrong with Grand Hotel Baglioni in Florence. First of all, it is a quick walk from the train station and within a short walking distance to many of the major sites to see in Florence. The room rate was excellent. Our room was very large, well appointed and spotlessly clean. The morning breakfast was delicious, with many food options available. I was very impressed with all of the hotel staff. They were extremely professional and very helpful, especially when recommending sittes to see in Florence. Be sure not to miss the hotel bar on the roof which provides the most perfect nightime view of Florence. You will not believe it! We cannot wait to go back to Florence and this will be our hotel of choice!

This hotel has great charm and is in a great location. The view from the restaurant up on the top floor where you have breakfast is amazing and Il Duomo can be clearly seen.

There are photos on the walls showing the hotel's amazing history.

Opening up the old windows and wooden shutters in our room we could hear bells regularly ringing. Our room was a good size and had a separate area with a desk and a couple of comfy chairs.

The walls are a bit thin meaning you can hear clearly conversations next door and if someone switches on the TV you can hear noise all around. There's no kettle or drinks in the room but I understand that's a standard thing in old hotels in Italy as it's thought a fire hazard. If you want coffee you have to go down to the bar next to the lobby where it's usual four star prices.

The TVs are pretty old technology and the room we were in could have done with a bit of a touch up but that's not why you stay in a place like this.

The Wifi's included and there are nice touches like white branded slippers.

So this hotel is within walking distance of the train station (which we took into town for an overnight in Florence before renting a car). It was a great location ( as Florence is not big at all). The hotel service gave me an Older Marriott Feel, and seemed very nice, a bit dark, but nice. The service was great, and we were taken care of from check in to our luggage through check out. I highly recommend buying the breakfast there, as its a bit pricey, but an awesome way to start the day with a great meal and the view is spectacular.

Let me highlight it again. The view atop the roof terrace is perhaps the best view in the city, and the Duomo at night is perfectly lit up and some of our best memories of the trip was drinkign wine at night on the roof looking at that beautiful structure.

This was my first trip to Italy. We went as a group of 20 people (a study group from Kuwait). The check-in was amazingly fast. The staff have prepared everything, and was waiting for us. The room was nicely decorated, in an old-wooden style. The bathroom was very clean, and fully equipped. Other people from the group complained that their rooms had bad/old flooring, which made squeaking sound when walked on.
The breakfast was decent, but not much variety. Super friendly staff. The location of the hotel is great. Walking distant from main attractions (and across the street from Santa Maria Novella). Free internet was great, but weak signal in some rooms (some couldn't access it).

I chose this hotel at the recommendation of an Italian colleague. Location is great, near the centre and train station. It was my partners birthday weekend. I had arranged for a cake and prosecutor to be in the room. They were presented wonderfully and each day the staff covered the cake, refreshed the plates and cutlery and really made the treat last. We chose a deluxe city view room. It was worth the extra money. The room was large, clean, and a very old Italian style, just what I wanted. My only complaint would be the shower, it went hot and cold a number of times during each shower. The staff were great, very helpful, and the level of English was good. Our package included breakfast. If I stayed here again I would spare the expense because as with many Italian hotels breakfast just wasn't up to scratch. Cold eggs, greasy bacon, bad toast, I should haveknownbetter. Just go for coffee and a pastry.
